José Alfredo Jiménez Sandoval was a Mexican singer-songwriter, whose songs are regarded the basis of modern regional Mexican music and rancheras. During his lifetime, he wrote over a thousand songs, which have been covered by various artists.
María de los Ángeles de las Heras Ortiz, better known as Rocío Dúrcal, was a Spanish singer and actress with a career spanning more than four decades. She performed pop music, bolero, mariachi and romantic ballads and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Spanish singers of all time. Popular across Mexico and Latin America, she earned the sobriquet of Reina de las Rancheras.
Juan Fernando Silvetti Adorno, professionally known as Bebu Silvetti or simply Silvetti, was an Argentine- born Mexican pianist, composer, conductor, arranger, and record producer. In the 1970s he moved to Mexico and became a citizen. Popularly known for the 1977 instrumental disco hit, "Lluvia De Primavera", the album was produced in Spain and for the 1980 modern instrumental mariachi album. Silvetti was also a successful, Grammy-winning producer for a wide variety of Latin and international music performers. He was the father of six children, including the actress Anna Silvetti. Silvetti also worked in the music of successful films and telenovelas in Mexico.
Mexican pop is a regional mexican music genre produced in Mexico, particularly intended for teenagers and young adults.
Juntos Otra Vez is the twenty-third studio album by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel, released on 29 April 1997. It featured Spanish singer Rocío Dúrcal, with whom Gabriel had previously collaborated. This album became their first number-one set on the Billboard Top Latin Albums. The album was awarded "Regional Mexican Album of the Year" at the 1998 Premio Lo Nuestro Award.
David Záizar was a Mexican mariachi singer and actor who appeared in many Mexican films. He was active beginning in the 1940s and until his death in 1982, due to a respiratory infection. What earned him the title of "Rey del Falsete" or "King of the Falsetto" was the fact that he displaced Miguel Aceves Mejía, who had the title until Záizar's appearance on the ranchera music scene. Initially, he joined forces with his brother, Juan Záizar, with whom he formed a duo. Prior to this, they had both been working on individual projects, especially Juan, who was a renowned composer and singer. They had only sung together for very special occasions, like their tribute to honor the famous ranchera composer, also from Jalisco, Pepe Guízar. Out of this union came the famous duo, "Los Hermanos Záizar". Like most Mexican folk songs, the majority of those interpreted by David that we have left today are about lost loves, unfaithful women, Mexico and its people, and several other topics commonly present throughout ranchera music.
Latin ballad is a sentimental ballad derived from bolero that originated in the early 1960s in Los Angeles, California and Southern California.
"Si Piensas, Si Quieres" is a Latin pop song performed by Brazilian singer-songwriter Roberto Carlos from his studio album Super Héroe (1991). The track was written by Alejandro Vezanni and Roberto Livi, produced by Livi and features vocals by Spanish performer Rocío Dúrcal. It was released as the album's lead single in Latin America and the United States. A Portuguese-language version of the song was also recorded as "Se Você Quer" with featured vocals from fellow Brazilian singer Fafá de Belém.
The 10th Lo Nuestro Awards ceremony, presented by Univision honoring the best Latin music of 1997 and 1998 took place on May 14, 1998, at a live presentation held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The ceremony was broadcast in the United States and Latin America by Univision.
El Concierto... En Vivo is the title of the first live album released by Spanish performer Rocío Dúrcal on 28 April 1992 under the label of BMG Ariola and produced by Enrique Elizondo. The album features a selection of her greatest hits, along with two new songs never recorded before by the artist: "Mía Un Año" and "Como Amigos" written and produced by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. This album includes recorded duets with the guest artists to the concert Enrique Guzman and Juan Gabriel.
