The 2014 elections to Manchester City Council were held on 22 May 2014, [1] on the same day as the 2014 United Kingdom local elections and the United Kingdom component of the 2014 European Parliament election. One-third of the council were up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a four-year term of office, expiring in 2018.

Mohammed Afzal Khan, is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manchester Rusholme, previously Manchester Gorton, since 2017.

The Socialist Labour Party (SLP) is a socialist political party in the United Kingdom. The highest percentage of votes the party has achieved to date is 7.6% by David A Elston when he stood in the St Athan ward on Vale of Glamorgan Council during the 2017 local elections. In general elections, the party has never received more than one per cent of the vote but briefly had two co-opted community councillors in early 2017, David A Elston in St Athan Community Council, and Kev Young in Parton Parish Council.
