2023 Cricket World Cup squads

This is a list of the squads picked for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The 10 participating nations were instructed to finalise their 15-player squads prior to 28 September 2023, with any replacements after this date requiring approval from the International Cricket Council. All squads were announced by 26 September 2023. The oldest player of the tournament was Dutch player Wesley Barresi, who was 39 years old, while the youngest was Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad, who was 18. [1]

Separamadu Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan former cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Sri Lankan limited overs bowlers of all time. Aththachchi Nuwan Pradeep Roshan Fernando, commonly known as Nuwan Pradeep, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer. He shot into prominence after winning a bowling speed contest in 2007 and he was sent to Sri Lanka's Cricket Academy and also went onto earn a national test call up less than 3 years later. He is regarded as the most unconventional find of Sri Lanka cricket.

Pathira Vasan Dushmantha Chameera is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for all three formats for the national team, and plays domestically for Nondescripts Cricket Club. He made his international debut for Sri Lanka in January 2015.

The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 8 May to 5 July 2016 for a three-match Test series, a five-match One Day International (ODI) series and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against the England cricket team. England won the Test series 2–0, the ODI series 3–0 and won the one-off T20I match by 8 wickets.

The 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier was the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which took place in June and July 2023 in Zimbabwe. It was the culmination of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process and decided the final two participants for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Australia in January and February 2019 to play two Test matches for the Warne–Muralitharan Trophy. The first Test, in Brisbane, was a day/night match. They also played a three-day warm-up match ahead of the Test series. In April 2018, Cricket Australia confirmed that the Manuka Oval would host its first ever Test match. Australia won the series 2–0, with Tim Paine winning his first Test series as captain of Australia.

This is a list of the squads picked for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. All 10 teams were required to submit a 15-member squad by 23 April, 2019 with changes to the squad allowed to be made up to 22 May. New Zealand were the first team to name their squad, naming their team on 3 April 2019. The West Indies were the last team to name their squad, announcing their team on 24 April 2019, one day after the initial deadline set by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Bangladesh in May 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. All of the matches took place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in December 2020. The Sri Lankan cricket team arrived in Bangladesh on 16 May 2021, following their two-match Test series in Sri Lanka.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, which was held in United Arab Emirates and Oman. Each team selected a squad of fifteen players before 10 October 2021. The Sri Lanka men's cricket team toured New Zealand in March and April 2023 to play two Test, three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship and the ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The West Indies cricket team toured Sri Lanka in November and December 2021 to play two Test matches. Originally scheduled to be played in October and November 2022, the tour was brought forward to be played after the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. Ahead of the Test matches, the West Indies were scheduled to play a four-day warm-up game in Colombo. However, the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.

Matheesha Pathirana is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays limited overs cricket for the national team. He has been referred to as Baby Malinga, as he has modelled his bowling action after Lasith Malinga in sling action.

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. The Afghanistan cricket team toured Sri Lanka in February 2024. The tour consisted of one Test, three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In November 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced its international calendar for 2024 and confirmed the bilateral series. In January 2024, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the fixtures for the tour.
