3rd Filmfare Awards East ceremony, presented by the Filmfare Magazine, honored the best Bengali language Indian films of 2017. The ceremony was held on 17 February 2018 and was co-hosted by Parambrata Chatterjee and Abir Chatterjee. [1] Films that were notably recognized were Bishorjan , which won six awards including Best Film and Best Director; Projapoti Biskut , which won six awards; and Mayurakshi , which won four awards, including Best Film (Critics' Choice). [2]

His film Shesh Pata, Angshumaner Chhobi, Mayurakshi, Binisutoy, Abby Sen and Rupkatha Noy, bagged multiple awards.Atanu started his career as a scriptwriter and director for documentary films in 1996. For his work in Aar Ek Bampi, he received the Doordarshan National Award for Best Children's Telefilm.

Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics and sing for many Bengali films.

Abir Chatterjee is an Indian actor who mainly works in Bengali cinema. He is the son of theatre personalities Phalguni Chatterjee and Rumki Chatterjee. He started his career with Bengali television and made his debut in Bengali cinema in 2009 as a lead with Cross Connection. He is well known for appearing as famous Detective Byomkesh Bakshi in a separate movie series.

Kaushik Ganguly is an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor in Bengali cinema. Multiple National Film Awards winner Actor-Director, Kaushik Ganguly is known for making films that explore various aspects sexuality, like Ushnatar Janye (2003), which deals with a lesbian relationship, and Arekti Premer Golpo (2010), which examines transgender identity & Nagarkirtan (2017), an LGBTQ Movie. In 2019, Film Companion ranked Ridhi Sen's performance in Nagarkirtan which was directed by Ganguly, among 100 Greatest Performances of the decade.

The story revolves around a love story between a Bangladeshi Hindu widow and Indian Muslim businessman, who one day washes up on the Bangladesh side of the Ichamati river.

Mayurakshi is a 2017 Bengali film directed by Atanu Ghosh and produced by Firdausal Hassan & Probal Halder for Friends Communication. The music was composed by Debojyoti Mishra. The film won the award for Best Bengali feature film at the 65th National Film Awards.

Supratim Bhol is an Indian cinematographer known majorly for his works in Hindi cinema and Bengali cinema. He is a member of ISC and has also worked in other regional language features and long length films in Haryanvi, Odia and Chhattisgarhi. Supratim an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) debuted as a Cinematographer with the film Colours of Innocence (2016), a National Award winner and this gave him his first nomination at Filmfare Awards East in 2017. His remarkable works till now are Panchlait, national award winner Avijatrik, FIPRESCI award winner Aparajito, Abyakto, Lomad and national award winner Dada Lakhmi. Suprartim won the 68th National Film Awards for Best Cinematography for Avijatrik and also Filmfare Award East in 2021.
