APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) is a state public technological university headquartered at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.

KTU offers professional degrees in engineering, technology, and management-related streams and has advanced courses and syllabi compared to its predecessor universities in the state. Named after the Indian aerospace scientist and statesman A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in 2015, [2] it is both a teaching and an affiliation university, with more than 170 affiliated colleges [3] and over 160,000 students enrolled, having jurisdiction over the 14 districts of Kerala.

KTU is an AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and UGC (University Grants Commission) approved university that offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate academic degrees in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Bachelor of Vocational Education (B.Voc), Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Architecture (M.Arch), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The language of instruction is English.

It is a relatively new and reformed technological university, with its first batch enrolled in the academic year 2015-16. [3] [4]

History

KTU was established by the Government of Kerala through an Ordinance on 21 May 2014. [5] Kuncheria P. Isaac, a former Member Secretary of the All India Council for Technical Education was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the university on 1 September 2014, and M. Abdul Rahman, former All India Council for Technical Education Director, was appointed as the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor. [6] Classes for the first batch under KTU began on 1 August 2015. [3]

Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT) is a private engineering college and business school in Mookkannoor, Kerala, India, run by the Federal Bank Officers' Association Educational Society (FBOAES), established in 2002. It is an initiative of the Federal Bank Officers' Association (FBOA), the organisation representing the officers of the Federal Bank. FISAT is accredited by NBA and NAAC.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Technology for Women (LBSITW), Thiruvananthapuram, is the first engineering college for women in the state of Kerala on the Malabar Coast of southwestern India. This is the second engineering college managed by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala the other being LBS College of Engineering, Kasargod. LBSITW is the only engineering college for women in the Government sector in the state of Kerala. The center is administered by a governing body and an executive committee. The Honorable Chief Minister is the Chairman of the governing body and the Honorable Minister of Education is the Vice-Chairman.

Government Engineering College, Wayanad is an engineering college established and managed by the Government of Kerala, India. It is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.[1]

Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID) , a design institute under Department of labour and Skills, Government of Kerala, is located at Chandanathope, about 8 Kilometers from Kollam city. St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (STM) is an undergraduate college in Kannur district of Kerala, India. It is a private college affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University established by St Thomas Educational Society, Adoor in the year 2014. It is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education.

The Trivandrum Engineering Science and Technology Research Park (TrEST), commonly known as TrEST Research Park is the first technology research science park in Kerala and is founded by the Government of Kerala. It is a concentration of collaborative research in microprocessor design, electric vehicle research, and other emerging technologies and has strong links with College of Engineering, Trivandrum and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
