Belgut is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of six constituencies of Kericho County. The constituency was established for the 1963 elections. A new Constituency Sigowet-Soin was curved out of this Constituency in 2013 after the promulgation of the new constitution (2010).
It spans the area that lies between the Kericho Kisumu highway to the East and the Chemosit(Sondu Miriu) River to the west. It occupies the land mass between Kericho, Sondu and Kabianga towns. Its head quarters is Sosiot town.
Its main economic activity is tea farming, with the constituency being host to Tegat and Momul tea factories. Other activities include dairy, maize, vegetable farming. On its lower side towards SoinSigowet constituency, sugar farming has taken root recently.

Belgut in early 1963 comprised the current Ainamoi, Belgut and Sigowet-Soin.
The journey started in 1963 where Alfred Kiptaro Kerich, who hailed from Kaptebeswet in the current Belgut, was elected unopposed.

By then Kiptarus Kirior, who later became the Member of Parliament for Belgut, was the councillor for Soin Ward and serving at the same time as the H/T Kipsitet Primary.
In that election of 1974 Alfred Kerich managed to clinch the seat from Wesley K. Rono (Alfred Kiptaro Kerich had claimed earlier that this guy won't perform and true to his words people agreed that he didn't really perform to the expectation of many.

In that election of 1988 Ayub Chepkwony won. This election was marred with a lot of irregularities Ayub used violence to take the seat since it was the Mlolongo System and Kirior lost that way and on that process Mr. Timothy Sirma ( the then District Commissioner and also the Returning Officer for the 1988 Belgut Parliamentary Elections ) bite Kirior's finger. Kiptarus Arap Kirior filed a petition [5] against Ayub Chepkwony challenging his election as Member of Parliament for Belgut Constituency under Kenya Gazette Notice: 1848 [6] in the year 1988. Remember DCs at time were the Returning Officers across Kenya. (Moi was also funny 3/4 of the DCs were Kalenjins)

Remember this is the time Ainamoi was created out of the larger Belgut. Kirior now moved out to the newly created Ainamoi Constituency.

Nelson Koech won with 34293 votes. Eric Arap keter came in second with 18171 votes.
The Kipsigis or Kipsigiis are a Nilotic group contingent of the Kalenjin ethnic group and speak a dialect of the Kalenjin language identified by their community eponym, Kipsigis. It is observed that the Kipsigis and another aboriginal group native to Kenya known as Ogiek have a merged identity. The Kipsigis are the biggest sub tribe within the Kalenjin community. The latest census population in Kenya put the Kipsigis at 1,972,000 speakers, accounting for 45% of all Kalenjin speaking people. They occupy the highlands of Kericho stretching from Timboroa to the Mara River in the south and the Mau Escarpment in the east to Kebeneti. They also occupy parts of Laikipia, Kitale, Nakuru, Narok, the Trans Mara District, Eldoret and the Nandi Hills.
Kericho is the biggest town in Kericho County, located in the highlands west of the Kenyan Rift Valley. Positioned on the edge of the Mau Forest, Kericho benefits from a warm and temperate climate, making it good for agriculture, especially large scale tea cultivation.
Kericho County is one of the 47 counties in Kenya. The county seats between longitude 35°02' and 35°40' East and between the equator and latitude 0°23' South with an altitude of about 2002m above sea level. It borders Uasin Gishu County to the North West, Baringo County to the North-East, Nandi County to the North-West, Nakuru County to the East and Bomet County to the South, Kisumu County to the Northwest and Nyamira County to the West. It has a population of 901,777 and an area of 2,111 km². Its capital and largest town is Kericho.
David Kimutai Too was a Kenyan politician affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He was a high school teacher and then a principal from Kericho in Rift Valley, Kenya before being elected to the National Assembly from Ainamoi Constituency from a field of 13 candidates in the December 2007 parliamentary election. Charles Keter, a fellow Member of Parliament, described Too as "a very humble, quiet man." The "List of alleged perpetrators" of the 2007/2008 post-electoral violence of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission however lists him among the suspects on place 3 and charges him with "planning, incitement, and financing the violence".
Kipkalya Kiprono Kones was a Kenyan politician who served as a minister during the 1990s and was briefly Minister of Roads in 2008. He was a member of the National Assembly of Kenya from 1988 to 2008.
Moses Kiprono arap Keino was Speaker of the Parliament of Kenya from 1988 until 1991.
Charles Cheruiyot Keter is a Kenyan politician. He has belonged to the United Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (UDA) since 2022.
Franklin Kipn'getich Bett alias (Chepkooit) is a Kenyan politician. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) after President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him to the position. He belongs to the Jubilee Alliance Party and was elected to represent the Bureti Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the Kenyan parliamentary election, 2007.
Isaac Kiprono Ruto is a Kenyan politician. He is the Chama Cha Mashinani Party leader. He was elected the first governor of Bomet County in 2013 Kenyan general elections. He hails from Tumoi, Sigor in Chepalungu constituency and went to Tenwek High School where he proceeded to study Political Science at the University of Nairobi. He is also a former chairman of the Council of Governors in Kenya.
Jonathan Kiprono Langat Magerer is a Kenyan politician. He is a former member Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Kipkelion Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. While in Parliament, he served as Deputy Chief Whip for ODM. He is remembered as one person who continues to serve Kenyans with dedication. On July 1, Langat was nominated as Executive Director of the Orange Democratic Movement, succeeding Janet Ongera. He was forceful ejected from ODMs National Executive Council meeting in October 2014 Hon. Magerer Langat Has continued to Serve the people of kiokelion constituency and Kericho County at large with diligence and dedication. He is seen from season to season participating in various public development initiatives, including fundraisers to build schools and for community development. As a seasoned politician, he has continued to champion for the efforts to revive development projects in the county, and enhance capacity building for his people. Reliable sources says that He will be contesting for the Kericho County Gubernatorial seat in 2022, seeking to succeed Prof. Paul chepkwony.
Zakayo Cheruiyot is a Kenyan politician who was born in 1954 at Kapsogut village in Bureti Constituency, Kericho County. His father, Arap Komuilong, was an Assistant Chief to Arap Tengecha, the Chief, during the colonial period. Cheruiyot attended Kapsogut Primary School prior to joining Litein High School and later Chesamis High School for his A-level education. The revered administrator holds a bachelor's degree in Literature and Governance from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies from Birmingham University in the UK. He is widely trained in public administration and has undergone major short courses on administration and management at the Kenya School of Government.
Sotik Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya established for the 1997 elections. It is one of five constituencies in Bomet County. Sotik has one major river, River Kipsonoi. Sotik is also a hilly place with the main crops being grown are tea and maize. The Nairobi Kisii highway passes through Sotik. Recently, many developments have occurred; Sotik Market was put up by the former governor Hon Isaac Ruto, since then infrastructure has been improving. Sotik is also a religious center with over 10 churches set up in the area, e.g., Bethel AGC, St Joseph's Sotik catholic church and Gustavo D' Kerich chapel.
Kericho High School is a Kenyan boys secondary school, located in Kericho, Kericho County about 3.9kilometers from Kericho Town CBD. The current principal is Dr Daniel Chelule. Local elections were held in Kericho County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected.
Kipsengeret Koros is a Kenyan Politician and a Member of Parliament for Sigowet-Soin Constituency in Kericho County, Kenya. He was elected in 2017 on an Independent ticket where he garnered 20,284 votes against the outgoing's 13,068 votes. Koros is the second Member of Parliament since the inception of Sigowet-Soin Constituency in the year 2013. He won the seat after defeating Justice Kemei.
Sigowet-Soin is an electoral constituency in Kericho County, Kenya. Its one of six Constituencies of Kericho County. It was created for 2013 General Elections after it being curved out of Belgut Constituency. First member of Parliament was Justice Kemei and currently the sitting MP for the constituency is Justice Kemei
Wesley Kimngeno arap Rono was the Second Member of Parliament for Belgut Constituency in Kericho County in 1969. Before he joined politics he served as the Principal for Cheptenye Boys in Kericho County. He held a BSc from the University of Nairobi.
Zipporah Jepchirchir Kittony, better known as Zipporah Kittony, is a former Kenyan politician and women's and children's rights activist. She served as nominated Member of Parliament between 1988 and 2007 and as a KANU nominated Senator between 2013 and 2018. She also served as the Chairperson of the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) from 1996 to 2006.
Reuben Kiborek is the current Member of Parliament for Mogotio Constituency of Baringo County located in Rift Valley, Kenya. He was elected to the seat the 2022 Kenyan general elections. Kiborek had previously contested Mogotio in the 2017 elections. He is a member of the United Democratic Alliance party. Prior to politics, he worked as a herdboy.
