Kitui South Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of eight constituencies in Kitui County. The constituency was established for the 1963 elections. At the 1988 and 1992 elections it was known as Mutomo Constituency. The constituency has six wards, all electing Members of County Assembly for the Kitui County Government.

Kitui is a town and capital of Kitui County in Kenya, 185 kilometres east of Nairobi and 105 kilometres east of Machakos. it covers an area approximately 30,496.4 km squares and lies between latitudes 0°10 South and 3°0 South and longitudes 37°50 East and 39°0 East. It borders seven counties i.e Machakos and Makueni counties to the west, Tana River County to the east and south-east, Taita Taveta County to the south, Embu to the north-west, and Tharaka-Nithi and Meru counties to the north. Kitui became the headquarters of Kitui County after the adoption of the new constitution and the devolved government.
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, which came into being because of the devolved system of governance occasioned by the 2010 constitution of Kenya. The country's first administrative headquarters are in Machakos Town, which is the largest town in the county. The county had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. The county borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the west, Embu to the north, Kitui to the east, Makueni to the south, Kajiado to the south west, and Muranga and Kirinyaga to the north west.
Charity Kaluki Ngilu is a Kenyan politician and the second governor elected for Kitui County. She unsuccessfully vied to be President of the Republic of Kenya in 1997. She served as Minister for Health from 2003 until 2007 and Minister of Water and Irrigation from April 2008 to 2013. She also served as Cabinet Secretary for Land, Housing and Urban Development from 2013 until 2015.

Eliud Ngala Mwendwa was a Kenyan teacher and politician. He was a member of the Kenyan delegation to the 1960 Lancaster House Conference, which negotiated the country's independence from the United Kingdom. Mwendwa then served as Minister for Labour within President Jomo Kenyatta's first post-independence 15-member cabinet. He ultimately served as the Minister for Labour and Social Services from 1963 until 1974 under Kenyatta.
Dr. Julius Makau Malombe,EGH is a Kenyan politician and the first and current elected Governor of Kitui County. He is elected on a Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K) which he won the 2013 elections garnering 163,904 votes. He defended his seat on Wiper ticket in the 2017 general election but lost to Charity Ngilu coming third behind former senator David Musila however he recaptured the seat and won after the 9 August 2022 gubernatorial elections with 198,004 votes defeating former senator David Musila who had 114,606 votes and Jonathann Mueke with 10,639 votes. As the pioneer governor of Kitui he is credited with much of the development gains made in the region. On 12 December 2022 Dr. Malombe was awarded the Elder of The Golden Heart by President William Ruto.
Kitui Rural Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of eight constituencies in Kitui County. The constituency was established and gazetted in 2012 by the IEBC in readiness for the 2013 elections.
