Ruiru is a municipality and sub-county in Kiambu County, Kenya. It sits within the greater Nairobi Metropolitan region. According to the 2019 national population census, Ruiru is the 4th largest urban centre in Kenya by population. The name Ruiru is of the Kikuyu dialect and possibly relates to the black cotton soil that is found in most parts of Ruiru to the east and south.

Makadara Constituency is an electoral constituency in Nairobi City County, Kenya. It is one of the seventeen constituencies in the county. It was renamed prior to the 1997 elections, but was also known as Doonholm Constituency for the 1963 and 1969 elections, then as Bahati Constituency. It consists of some central and southern of central areas of Nairobi County. The entire constituency is located within Nairobi City County, and has an area of 13 km². The current constituency boundaries were revised prior to the 2013 elections. It has a population of 189,536 people from the 2019 census report.

The constituency was established for the 1966 elections, with an area of 20 km2 (7.7 sq mi). This following the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of Raila Odinga winning a majority in the 2007 parliamentary elections. Raila was a candidate in the presidential elections, which resulted in a controversial victory for Mwai Kibaki of the Party of National Unity. The opening of the parliament was fraught with jeers, cheers and brawls between the opposing parties; Mwai Kibaki was greeted by the ODM members with silence and boos, while Raila was greeted by PNU members with accusations of genocide.

The Current Member of Parliament for Kikuyu Constituency is Hon. Anthony Kimani Ichung'wa who was elected on The National Alliance Party (TNA) ticket. He is also the Vice - Chairman of the Public Investments Committee, Member of the committee of Powers and Privileges and equally a Member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives in parliament. Kikuyu Constituency borders Kabete, Limuru, Westlands and Dagoreti Constituencies. The constituency had its name changed to Kabete Constituency before 2007 General Elections and Later in 2012 during the review of boundaries by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the constituency was split into two, thereby creating Kikuyu and Kabete constituencies Respectively.
Ganze Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of seven constituencies in Kilifi County. The constituency has four wards, all electing Members of County Assembly for the Kilifi County Assembly. The constituency was established for the 1988 elections. After the IEBC adopted the Boundary commission's recommendation for new constituencies and boundaries, Ganze Constituency retained its name, and no major boundaries were altered. It has a population of 143,906 according to the 2019 census report by the Kenya National bureau of Statistics (KNBS). Its current member of parliament is Hon. Charo Kenneth Kazungu Tungule of Pamoja African alliance Party (PAA).

Juja is a town in Kiambu County in Kenya. It is the home town for Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). It is also a constituency in Kiambu county, currently represented in parliament by Hon. George Koimburi following the demise of the late Hon. Francis Munyua Waititu. The MCA is Kalpesh Jayantilal Shah, who represents the people of Juja Ward at the County Government. Juja is home to more than 150,000 Kenyans, who are mostly students.
Local elections were held in Kiambu County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected.
