He is the longest serving BJP Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is former MLA from Shikaripura constituency in Shimoga district, from where he has been elected eight times.
Darshan Thoogudeepa known mononymously as Darshan is an Indian actor, producer, and distributor who works predominantly in Kannada films. One of the leading contemporary actors of Kannada cinema, Darshan established the production house Thoogudeepa Productions in 2006. Its first production was Jothe Jotheyali, with Darshan in a special appearance. His performances in Anatharu (2007) and Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (2012) won him praise from critics; his performance in the latter as the 19th-century warrior Sangolli Rayanna won him the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor.
Bangalore City Railway Station, officially Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Station, commonly known as KSR Bengaluru Station, Bengaluru City Railway Station or Majestic Railway station, is the main railway station serving the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It is the busiest railway station in South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways, and is the only station classified under NSG1 category in the zone.
Lakes and tanks in the metropolitan area of Greater Bangalore and the district of Bangalore Urban are reservoirs of varying sizes constructed over a number of centuries by various empires and dynasties for rainwater harvesting. Historically, these reservoirs were primarily either irrigation tanks or for the water supply, with secondary uses such as bathing and washing. The need for creating and sustaining these man-made dammed freshwater reservoirs was created by the absence of a major river nearby coupled with a growing settlement. As Bangalore grew from a small settlement into a city, both of the primary historical uses of the tanks changed. Agricultural land witnessed urbanization and alternate sources of water were provisioned, such as through borewells, piped reservoir water and later river water from further away.

Basavaraj Somappa Bommai is an Indian politician and engineer who served as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka from 18 July 2021 to 19 May 2023 and Interim Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly from July to November 2023. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and He was former member of the Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United). He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the legislature of Karnataka for Shiggaon, from where he has been elected four times since 2008. Between 1998 and 2008, he was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dharwad local authorities. He served as Minister for Water Resources and major and medium irrigation from 2008 to 2013, Home Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Cooperation between 2019 and 2021 minister in charge of Haveri and Udupi districts from 2019 to 2021.
Jayaram Jayalalithaa, commonly referred to as Jayalalithaa, was an Indian politician who was the six time Chief Minister of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. She was initially convicted for misusing her office during her tenure of 1991–96. Subramanian Swamy was the chief petitioner. Some of the allegations involved spending on her foster son's lavish marriage in 1996 and her acquisition of properties worth more than ₹66.65 crore, as well as jewellery, cash deposits, investments and a fleet of luxury cars. This was the first case where a ruling chief minister had to step down on account of a court sentence. Ultimately, in May 2015, her conviction was overturned, she was acquitted of all charges, and she then died before the Supreme Court of India reviewed the case in 2017.

Dandupalya 2 is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language crime thriller directed by Srinivas Raju and produced by Venkat. Based on the infamous dacoit gang from Dandupalya, the film is a sequel to the 2012 film Dandupalya. The film stars Pooja Gandhi, continuing her role from the predecessor. The principal cast includes P. Ravi Shankar, Sanjjanaa Galrani, Makarand Deshpande, Shruti and Ravi Kale. The film features music composed by Arjun Janya and cinematography by Venkat Prasad. The film opened to mixed reviews from audience and critics upon the release and went on to become a box-office hit at both Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 18.82 km (11.69 mi) line connects R.V. Road with Bommasandra and is fully elevated with 16 stations. R.V. Road station is the terminal station on the city side where an interchange is being provided with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital station will serve as another elevated interchange station with the Pink Line that is also under construction in Phase ll of Namma Metro's expansion. Upon its opening, Jayadeva Station will be the tallest and largest metro station in Bengaluru, with 5 levels of transport, including the metro lines. Central Silk Board station will be another interchange station between the Yellow Line and Blue Line. The other end of the Yellow Line will terminate at Bommasandra. The line was scheduled to open in June 2023, but due to construction delays, it was scheduled around April 2024. But now as per latest reports, the Yellow Line will be operational from July 2024. This postpone has been attributed to delay in delivery of coaches from China.
Gauri Lankesh was an Indian activist and journalist from Bangalore, Karnataka. She worked as an editor in Lankesh Patrike, a Kannada weekly started by her father P. Lankesh, and ran her own weekly called Gauri Lankesh Patrike. She was murdered outside her home in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on 5 September 2017. At the time of her death, Gauri was known for being a critic of right-wing Hindu extremism. She was honoured with Anna Politkovskaya Award for speaking against right-wing Hindu extremism, campaigning for women's rights and opposing caste based discrimination.

On the night of 11 August and the early hours of 12 August 2020, violent clashes took place around the residence of a legislator and the police stations of KG Halli and DJ Halli of the Indian city of Bangalore, Karnataka. A group of Muslims, angered by a Facebook post on Muhammad allegedly shared by Akhanda Srinivas Murthy's nephew, a state legislator of the Indian National Congress, arrived at his house in protest, which later turned violent..
On 10 August 2020, members of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) made simultaneous drug raids in Mumbai and Bengaluru relating to an alleged international MDMA (ecstasy) drugs racket. Based on evidence collected during the raids, the NCB made arrests of three other individuals on 21 August. Police said they had seized ₹2.2 lakh cash and 145 MDMA pills. According to police, one of the accused had a diary allegedly containing the names of 15 celebrities: including reality television personalities, musicians, actors in Kannada cinema and models, who the accused claimed were regular customers. The police claimed these accused were selling their products to affluent sections of Bangalore society. Other searches were made at properties allegedly belonging to major Kannada film stars. In light of the busts, Kannada filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh alleged 15 members of the Sandalwood were involved in the drugs racket, and accordingly gave a statement to the police. As on 8 September 2020, six people were arrested in connection with the case, including two Kannada film actors: Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani, and Viren Khanna, a celebrity party organizer, at whose house a police uniform was allegedly found. Other children of politicians and other VIPs are also sought by the police in connection with the case, including Aditya Alva, the son of former minister Jeevaraj Alva and brother-in-law of actor Vivek Oberoi, who allegedly rented out his property for parties at which drugs were consumed. An FIR was registered against 12 people allegedly involved in the scandal, including Jayaprakash, a film producer, Dwivedi, Galrani, and Alva. They were suspected of buying drugs from Loum Pepper Samba, an alleged drug peddler from Senegal. The bail pleas of Dwivedi and Galraniwere rejected on 3 November. Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of a Kerala minister, had his house raided on 5 November as part of a money-laundering investigation relating to drug sales in Bangalore.
