Cluster University of Srinagar (C-U, CUS) is a collegiate state university located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is a cluster of five colleges of the Srinagar city. It has been established under The Srinagar and Jammu Cluster Universities Act, 2016 together with Cluster University of Jammu and is an initiative of the centrally sponsored scheme, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), to create new universities through upgradation of existing colleges and conversion of colleges in a cluster. Constituent colleges

The five constituent colleges of the university are Amar Singh College, Sri Pratap College, Government College for Women M.A. Road Srinagar, Abdul Ahad Azad College Bemina, and The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education Srinagar. [4]

Academics

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated master's and research degrees in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, applied sciences (engineering), management, commerce and professional courses.[ citation needed ]

The university's five campuses are spread over 108 acres (44 ha). The infrastructure development is funded through the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).[ citation needed ]

Sri Pratap College, commonly known as SP College, is an academic and professional college in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The college has been accredited by NAAC with an 'A+' Grade. It is the oldest institute of higher education in the Kashmir Valley.

The National Policy on Education (NPE) is a policy formulated by the Government of India to promote and regulate education in India. The policy covers elementary education to higher education in both rural and urban India. Maharajadhiraj Uday Chand Women's College, known as M. U. C. Women's College, established on 28 July 1955, is a women's college in Bardhaman. It offers undergraduate courses in arts and science and PG course in English. It was at first affiliated to Calcutta University. In 1960 when the University of Burdwan was established, the college became one of the affiliated colleges of the newly established university. Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a holistic scheme of development for higher education in India initiated in 2013 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The centrally sponsored scheme aims at providing strategic funding to higher educational institutions throughout the country. Funding is provided by the central ministry through the state governments and union territories (UT), which in coordination with the central Project Appraisal Board will monitor the academic, administrative and financial advancements taken under the scheme. A total of 316 state public universities and 13,024 colleges will be covered under it.

Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) is a centrally sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for the development of secondary education in public schools throughout India. It was launched in March 2009. The implementation of the scheme has started from 2009–2010 to provide conditions for an efficient growth, development and equity for all. The scheme includes a multidimensional research, technical consulting, various implementations and funding support. The principal objectives are to enhance quality of secondary education and increase the total enrollment rate from 52% to 75% in five years, i.e. from 2009 to 2014. It aims to provide universal education for all children between 15 and 16 years of age. The funding from the central ministry is provided through state governments, which establish separate implementing agencies. The total budget allocated during the XI Five Year Plan (2002-2007) was 2,012 billion (US$24 billion).

The Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial College Bemina formerly known as GDC Bemina, Government Degree College, Bemina is a University Grants Commission recognized college in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir located on 283 Kanal campus in state summer capital Srinagar. It is affiliated with the Cluster University of Srinagar. It was established in the year 1970 and has been operational since 1972. The college has the largest campus in the state of Jammu and Kashmir spread over 283 kanal of land.

The Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), is a collegiate public state university, located in Jammu in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is a cluster of five colleges of the Jammu city and five Schools. It was established in 2016 under The Srinagar and Jammu Cluster Universities Act, 2016 together with Cluster University of Srinagar under the initiative of the centrally sponsored scheme, RUSA. Cluster University of Jammu along with Cluster University of Srinagar was inaugurated by Prakash Javadekar, then Minister of HRD, Government of India on 17 April 2017.

The Government College Chamba generally known as Government Post Graduate College, Chamba at Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India was established in 1958. The college is affiliated to Sardar Patel University Mandi, Shimla and has switched to Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for Under Graduate classes from academic session 2013-14 under the guidelines of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). Kalampora, also known as Kalampur or Kalam Pora, is a village in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. This village is situated between Shopian district at a distance of 14 km towards South and Pulwama at a distance of 15 km towards North where its district headquarters are located. It takes 1 hour and 44 minutes to cover the distance of 47 km between Kalampora and state summer capital Srinagar.

Mizoram Engineering College is the only engineering college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram.

Education in Jammu and Kashmir is based on 5-tier model which includes primary schools, middle schools, higher secondary schools, Colleges and University. As per the census of 2011, Jammu and Kashmir has the literacy rate of 68%. However, there has been an increase in the numbers in recent years.
