The Dongfeng Z9 is a pickup truck produced by the Zhengzhou Nissan joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
Prior to production the model was known as the Nissan Yuanye Z9.
The Z9 is a 4-door pickup truck bigger than the North American market Nissan Frontier. Initially only available in China, the plug-in hybrid version of the Z9 eventually went on sale as the GTV Kouprey ZNA in Cambodia. Gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models are available.
The Z9 uses blacked out A, B, and C-pillars. There are Z-shaped daytime running lights in the front and the taillights are also Z-shaped. Body cladding is present in the front and rear. There are rounded wheel arches and the model also features a grille with a hexagonal pattern. [1]
All models receive 18-inch rims and 265/65R18 tires as standard.
A 2 liter turbocharged inline-4 is available with 2 different power outputs. Also available is a 2.3 liter turbodiesel inline-4. [2] Plug-in hybrid versions combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a motor integrated in the transmission are also available and sold as the Nissan Frontier Pro, Dongfeng Z9 GE and GTV Kouprey ZNA.
The Nissan Frontier Pro is a rebadged version of the Z9 PHEV model. It was revealed at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. [3] It was showcased alongside the N7.
The Frontier Pro differentiates in the design from the Z9 as it uses a full-width light bar with the light bar inspired by the D21 Hardbody. The Nissan wordmark is embedded into the tailgate and serves as a taillight. [4]
The Frontier Pro will go on sale at the end of 2025. [5]
In May 2025 a Nissan engineer confirmed to Australia's Drive that an SUV version of the Frontier Pro is being considered. [6]
The Z9 GE is a plug-in hybrid version of the Z9. It shares the PHEV powertrain with the Frontier Pro. It was launched on May 31st, 2025. Unlike the Frontier Pro, it is available with two power output options and two battery options. [7]
Depending on the trim, the Z9 GE makes 322 to 429 horsepower. Torque output remains the same at 590 lb-ft. Battery options are a 17 kWh battery and a larger 32.85 kWh battery. [8]
The new GTV Kouprey ZNA will be a rebadged version of the Z9 and will be releasing soon for the Cambodian market. Specifications and pricing will be available soon.
