This electoral calendar 2006 lists the national/federal direct elections held in 2006 in the de jure and de facto sovereign states and their dependent territories. Referendums are included, although they are not elections. By-elections are not included.

A referendum is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is invited to vote on a particular proposal. This may result in the adoption of a new law. In some countries, it is synonymous with a plebiscite or a vote on a ballot question.

Elections in Thailand refers to the democratic process in which some parts of the Government of Thailand is selected. Thailand has so far had 25 general elections since 1933; the last election was in 2014. Voting in elections in Thailand is compulsory. All elections in Thailand are regulated by the Election Commission of Thailand.
