Evergreen is a residential neighbourhood under construction within the University Heights Suburban Development Area of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The residential area is constructed around the village centre and a larger district village. [1] The subdivision was created in 2010. Evergreen is projected to have a density of 8.6 units per acre, becoming one of the densest neighbourhoods in Saskatoon when complete. [2]
The Evergreen neighbourhood is planned to be built out in seven phases. Once complete, the following statistics are expected: [3]
The neighbourhood is named for two 50-year-old Scots Pines that were incorporated into the layout of the neighbourhood. These trees were originally part of the Sutherland Forest Nursery Station. The former Bridge City Speedway location was redeveloped as part of the neighbourhood.
The community is separated from neighbouring developments to the south by greenbelts provided by University of Saskatchewan agricultural land holdings and the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.
As is standard in most recently developed Saskatoon communities[ citation needed ], street names consist of assorted names recognizing Saskatoon citizens, with main core roads using the name of the community.
The first residential lots were offered for sale by the City of Saskatoon in 2010.
Evergreen will be the first large scale installation of LED street lights by Saskatoon Light & Power. [4]
Evergreen exists within the federal electoral district of Saskatoon—University. It is currently represented by Corey Tochor of the Conservative Party of Canada, first elected in 2019. [5]
Provincially, the area is divided into the constituencies of Saskatoon Silverspring-Sutherland and Saskatoon Willowgrove. [6] Saskatoon Silverspring-Sutherland is currently represented by Paul Merriman of the Saskatchewan Party since 2011. Saskatoon Willowgrove is currently represented by Ken Cheveldayoff of the Saskatchewan Party since 2003. [7]
In Saskatoon's non-partisan municipal politics, Evergreen lies within ward 10. It is currently represented by Zach Jeffries, first elected in 2012. [8]

On October 22, 2013, the provincial government announced funding for four new P3 facilities in Saskatoon, including a joint-use public/separate school facility in Evergreen. [10] Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools revealed in June 2015 that the division's new elementary school in Evergeen would be named after St. Nicholas, [11] while Saskatoon Public Schools announced in October 2016 that its new elementary school would be named after Sylvia Fedoruk. [12]
Both schools were completed ahead of the 2017–2018 school year. [13]
At present, Evergreen is too young a community to have any substantial commercial development. A district commercial hub is planned on the northeast side of Evergreen around the intersection of McOrmond Drive and Fedoruk Drive, but at present the closest major commercial to Evergreen is in the University Heights Suburban Centre to the south and in Aspen Ridge to the northeast.
Sutherland is a mostly residential neighbourhood located in east-central Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is an older suburban subdivision, composed of a near-even mix of single-family detached houses and multiple-unit apartment and semi-detached dwellings. As of 2006, the area was home to 5,206 residents. The neighbourhood is a middle-income area, with an average family income of $51,857, an average dwelling value of $204,213 and a home ownership rate of 43.8%. According to MLS data, the average sale price of a home as of 2013 was $288,651. Sutherland was administered as a separate town outside of Saskatoon before being annexed by the city in 1956.
University Heights Suburban Development Area (SDA) is an area in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada). It is a part of the east side community of Saskatoon. It lies (generally) south of the outskirts of the City and the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344, east of the South Saskatchewan River, and Lawson SDA, north of the Lakewood SDA, and Nutana SDA.

Parkridge is a residential community in western Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, located on land annexed by the city between 1975 and 1979. Development of the subdivision initially began in the early 1980s. The extreme west end of the neighbourhood remained undeveloped until the subsequent creation of the adjacent Blairmore Suburban Centre led to the final phase of Parkridge being built out in the early 2010s. Whereas the majority of residents are employed in the sales and service sector, the next highest employer is business, finance and administration. The two main age groups are those in their 40s and teenagers as of 2005. Until recently Parkridge was the farthest western neighbourhood of Saskatoon south of 22nd Street. However, new construction will soon see Neighbourhood 2 of the Blairmore SDA bear that claim to fame. In comparison, the neighbourhood of Parkridge with a 2001 census population of 4,505 is larger than the Saskatchewan city of Melville which had a population of 4,149 in 2006, and 4,453 in 2001 and Parkridge is a little smaller than the provincial city of Humboldt which was 4,998 in 2006, and 5,161 in 2001. In Saskatchewan rural towns must maintain a population above 5,000 to apply for city status. According to MLS data, the average sale price of a home as of 2013 was $327,072.
Forest Grove is a primarily residential neighbourhood located in northeast Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Sutherland Industrial is an industrial subdivision located in east-central Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was originally part of Sutherland, a town outside of Saskatoon before being annexed by the city in 1956. The subdivision also contains the first urban reserve in Saskatchewan, the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.
Hampton Village is a residential neighbourhood within the Confederation Suburban Development Area of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Hampton Village is the first suburb designed on Saskatoon's west side to be modelled after the village concept. The residential area is constructed around the village centre consisting of shops, services and amenities for residential living, with walking trails radiating outward from the central core. This suburb has some detached homes and condominiums sold, and in 2008, there are still several areas still under construction.
Aspen Ridge is a neighbourhood located in northeast Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, construction on which began in 2014. At full build-out, Aspen Ridge will eventually house an estimated 13,000 people. Unlike many of the city's suburban neighbourhoods, it will feature higher density housing on a grid network of roads.
