FTI station (also called Tenement station, Food Terminal Junction,Arca South Station or Taguig station) is a station of the South Main Line ("Southrail") of the Philippine National Railways. Like all PNR stations, this station is at grade. It is located on the East Service Road of the South Luzon Expressway in Taguig, on the foot of the Metro Manila Skyway. It is named after its major landmark, the grounds of the formerly state-owned Food Terminal, Inc. which is now renamed as Arca South.

The station is the thirteenth station from Tutuban and is one of two stations serving Taguig, the other station being Nichols.

In 2018, PNR extended the North Shuttle Line southwards from Dela Rosa to FTI as its new terminus, effectively starting on September 10, while northwards from Caloocan to Governor Pascual started on December 3. [1] [2]

Nearby landmarks

The station is near major landmarks such as the Ayala Land development Arca South, Technological University of the Philippines-Taguig Campus, the Sunshine Mall, the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, a major warehouse of the National Food Authority and, most notably, a series of low-cost housing developments collectively called BLISS Taguig (commonly called "Tenement"). Further away from the station are the Western Bicutan National High School and Signal Village.

FTI station is accessible by jeepneys plying routes on the East Service Road, as well as jeeps entering the FTI complex. In the future, the station will also be integrated with the Taguig Integrated Terminal Exchange, which is currently[ when? ] under construction, as well as the planned Metro Manila Subway.

Rail transportation in the Philippines presently is used mostly to transport passengers within Metro Manila and the nearby province of Laguna, as well as a commuter service in the Bicol Region. Freight transport is nonexistent, although there are plans for a revival from Port Area, Manila to Laguna, and a cargo train planned between Subic and Clark. Currently, the country has a railway footprint of only 212 kilometers (132 mi) through Line 1, Line 2, Line 3 and the Philippine National Railways' (PNR) Metro Commuter Line, although the government has stated to expand the network by 244 kilometers (152 mi) in Luzon, as well as building the 102 km (63 mi) first phase of the 1,550 kilometers (960 mi) Mindanao Railway expansion.

Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) is a Filipino government owned and controlled corporation focused on food processing and distribution. It also runs a 120-hectare industrial estate that leases lots for small and medium-sized enterprises that runs business on agricultural development, electronic raw materials and other business endeavors, of which 76 hectares were sold to Ayala Land and is now known as Arca South.

It is located on the East Service Road of the South Luzon Expressway in Taguig, on the foot of the Sales Interchange, and takes its name from one of the area's popular nicknames, Nichols, which is also the former name of Villamor Airbase. It was opened for revenue service on March 25, 2010.

The Metro Manila Subway Line 9, formerly known as the Mega Manila Subway, is an underground rapid transit line currently under construction in Metro Manila, Philippines. The 36-kilometer (22 mi) line, which will run north–south between Quezon City, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, and Pasay, consists of 15 stations between the Quirino Highway and FTI stations. It will become the country's second direct airport rail link after the North–South Commuter Railway, with a branch line to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

San Martin de Porres is an administrative division in southern Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is an elongated barangay located in the northeast corner of Parañaque adjoining the areas of Bicutan in Taguig and northern Muntinlupa. The Santa Rosa Integrated Terminal, also known as the SM City Santa Rosa Transport Terminal, is a bus station in SM City Santa Rosa in Laguna in the Philippines. It is the second of three planned provincial intermodal terminals for the south of Manila under a public-private partnership arrangement. Starting June 2019, the terminal will handle province-bound and incoming buses from Calabarzon and the Bicol Region, as well as other provincial buses plying the nautical highway in the south pending the completion of, and as an alternative to, the Taguig Integrated Terminal Exchange.
