Ferrari (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album composed by Daniel Pemberton for the 2023 film Ferrari by Michael Mann. It was digitally released by Milan Records on December 25, 2023, the same day as the film's theatrical release in the United States.
Composer Daniel Pemberton grew up watching the films of Michael Mann, whom he described as a "visionary director." [1] Initially, Pemberton had only been brought onto the film to score the racing scenes, however, Mann liked Pemberton's work so much that he asked him to score the entire film. [2] [3]
After reviewing the racing scenes, Pemberton knew that his score had to complement the low rumbling frequency of the racecar engines. [4] He stated that "the sound of those cars is the score in some ways, and the score must not tramp on that." As such, the score utilizes high-pitched strings and low-frequency bass that created space for the engines to become part of the score as well. [2] [3] For a major racing scene, Pemberton began with uneasy and "on-edge" chords that escalated into a crescendo until the driver onscreen reached a "driving nirvana, where you are suddenly in the zone and everything has come together." [4]
Pemberton scored the film in one week, [5] later describing the process as "very intense" and "like driving an actual Ferrari, at very high speeds." [1] He described his Ferrari score as "slightly more understated" than what he usually composes. [3]
Justin Chang of the Los Angeles Times called Pemberton's score "moving" [6] while Ross Bonaime of Collider called it "mesmerizing." [7] Rafa Sales Ross of IGN wrote that Pemberton's score "[punctuated] the gritty sounds of thudding metal and roaring engines with heartrending melodies fittingly used as a reminder that Ferrari is a film about loss and longing in all their many forms." [8] David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter called Pemberton's score "propulsive or emotional as required" and wrote that it helped "keep the pace feeling brisk over a two-hours-plus running time." [9] Edward Douglas of Above the Line wrote that Pemberton "[delivered] a score that's perfectly attuned to the period and region, making it very different from other scores, showing his continuing versatility." [10] Ridge Harripersad of CGMagazine wrote, "The musical composition by Daniel Pemberton really set the tone for every scene well." [11]
On the other hand, Hannah Strong of Little White Lies wrote that "Pemberton's score [felt] misused in places, pitched at such a level it competes with the dialogue." [12]

Michael Kenneth Mann is an American film director, screenwriter, author, and producer, best known for his stylized crime dramas. Mann has received numerous accolades including a BAFTA Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards as well as nominations for four Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. His most acclaimed works include the films Thief (1981), Manhunter (1986), The Last of the Mohicans (1992), Heat (1995), The Insider (1999), Ali (2001), Collateral (2004), Public Enemies (2009), and Ferrari (2023). He is also known for his role as executive producer on the popular TV series Miami Vice (1984–90), which he adapted into a 2006 feature film.

He has also received recognition for his work in films such as Steve Jobs, Motherless Brooklyn, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Being the Ricardos, and The Rescue, as well as the LittleBigPlanet series of games.
Raffaele "Lello" Marciello is a Swiss-born Italian professional racing driver who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for BMW M Team WRT. A former member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was the 2013 European Formula Three Champion, a reserve and test driver for the Sauber Formula One team in 2015, and spent three seasons competing in the GP2 Series. He switched to GT racing in 2017 and became a works Mercedes-AMG driver ahead of the 2018 campaign, where he stayed until leaving in 2023 and subsequently signing with BMW. Daniel Pemberton, the original composer, returned to score for the sequel. Pemberton described the score as "bigger than the first film", due to the expansion of the creative journey and the lead actor's adventures. Women Talking (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the score album composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir for the 2022 film of the same name, directed by Sarah Polley, based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Miriam Toews. The film stars Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Ben Whishaw, and Frances McDormand, who also serves as the producer. Hildur described the score as one of the optimistic music, she composed for a horrific subject which is relevant in the current period, referring to sexual assault against women. Disenchanted (Original Soundtrack) is the soundtrack to the 2022 film of the same name directed by Adam Shankman. The sequel to Enchanted (2007), the film's original music included songs written and produced by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, both of whom wrote the music for the previous installment. Menken also composed the incidental underscore for the film. Menken's longtime collaborator Michael Kosarin conducted the songs and score.
