Hideaway Bay, also spelled Hydeaway Bay, is a coastal town and locality in the Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia. [2] [3] In the 2016 census, the locality of Hideaway Bay had a population of 205 people. [1]

There is a long sandy beach along the coastline with Shoal Bay ( 20°04′39″S148°29′10″E / 20.0775°S 148.4862°E / -20.0775; 148.4862 (Shoal Bay) ) off the coast . [4] [5] The locality is accessed via Hydeaway Road. [6]

History

The town was officially named on 2 December 1989. [2] The locality was officially named and bounded on 28 January 2000. [3]

In the 2016 census, the locality of Hideaway Bay had a population of 205 people. [1]

Education

There are no schools in Hideaway Bay. The nearest government primary school is Proserpine State School and the nearest government secondary school is Proserpine State High School, both in Proserpine to the south-east. [6]

Amenities

Hideaway Bay has a sports park with a synthetic grass tennis court. [7]
