One of the short-lived lines of Honda motorcycles is the CJ Series, which was an offshoot of the short-lived CB360. The CJ series motorbikes have inline engines, of a nominal 360cc capacity.
The Honda CJ360T was a twin cylinder four-stroke motorcycle produced from 1976 to 1977. Evolving from the successful CB360 Twin. The CJ360T was a less expensive version of the CB360, with a five-speed gearbox (instead of six on the CB), front drum brake rather than disc brake, a 2-into-1 exhaust and was kick-start only (the CB had electric and kick start). The 360 engine was tuned for broad range torque.
The model had a short manufacturing life from 1976 to 1977 and did not gain market success. The poor acceptance resulted from several factors including:
The only differences between the 1976 and 1977 model years were cosmetic. The 1976 model was offered in Candy Antares Red. The 1977 model carried over the same color with orange stripes added along the fuel tank and rear cowl.
The CJ250T, which was not sold in the US, was offered in Parakeet Yellow and Tahitian Red.
The CB Series is an extensive line of Honda motorcycles. Most CB models are road-going motorcycles for commuting and cruising. The smaller CB models are also popular for vintage motorcycle racing. The related Honda CBR series are sport bikes.
The Honda CB750 is an air-cooled, transverse, in-line-four-cylinder-engine motorcycle made by Honda over several generations for year models 1969–2008 with an upright, or standard, riding posture. It is often called the original Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM) and also is regarded as the first motorcycle to be called a "superbike".
The Honda XR series is a range of four-stroke off-road motorcycles that were designed in Japan but assembled all over the world.
The Honda CX series motorcycles, including the GL500 and GL650 Silver Wing variants, were developed and released by Honda in the late 1970s, with production ending in most markets by the mid 1980s. The design included innovative features and technologies that were uncommon or unused at the time such as liquid cooling, electric-only starting, low-maintenance shaft drive, modular wheels, and dual CV-type carburetors that were tuned for reduced emissions. The electronic ignition system was separate from the rest of the electrical system, but the motorcycle could only be started via the start button.
The Honda CM400 is a street bike produced by the Honda Motor Company from 1979 to 1982, part of a series of motorcycles with the prefix 'CM' using various engine capacities. It was a precursor to the Honda Rebel series of motorcycles. It was equipped with electric start and electronic ignition. Models included the CM400A, CM400C (Custom), CM400E (Economy) and CM400T (Touring). The CM400C was produced only in 1981, making it one of the rarer models.
The BMW R90S is a 900cc sport motorcycle produced by BMW from 1973 to 1976. BMW commissioned designer Hans Muth to oversee the R90S, which became the flagship of the boxer engined "/6" range. Sporting distinctive two-tone paintwork, a bikini fairing and a new tail, the R90S was intended to shrug off the enduring image of BMW bikes as staid and utilitarian.
The Honda CG125 or Honda CG is a commuter motorcycle made by Honda of Japan. It was in production from 1976 to 2008 in Japan and has been in production since 1992 in Pakistan. The CG was originally manufactured in Japan, but the source for the European market was eventually moved to Brazil in 1985, and to Pakistan and Turkey in 1992 for the W and M models. The CG125 is powered by a 124 cc (7.6 cu in) four-stroke, overhead valve, single-cylinder engine that has changed little over the years.
The Honda CRF series is a line of four-stroke motocross, trail, and dual sport motorcycles manufactured and marketed by Honda.
The Honda CB175 is a standard motorcycle made by Honda from 1969 to 1973. It had a 174 cc (10.6 cu in) four-stroke, straight-twin engine with a single overhead camshaft, two valves per cylinder, dual slide-valve carburetors, and dual exhausts. It was also equipped with a five-speed gearbox, 12-volt electrics, kick and electric start, front and rear drum brakes, turn signals, speedometer with trip meter, and tachometer, and was rated at 20 bhp (15 kW). An update in 1972, brought a more rounded gas tank and changes to the air box covers, along with some other minor trim changes. The CB175 was discontinued for 1974 and replaced by the CB200, a similar bike already in production. Although not technologically remarkable, Honda's small twins of the 1960s and 1970s were among their best sellers. Dual sport scrambler CL175, SL175 enduro style and touring CD175/CA175 versions were also produced.
Honda XL250 is a four-stroke 250 cc (15 cu in) motorcycle from Honda introduced in 1972 and manufactured through most of the 1980s. When it appeared it was the first modern four-stroke enduro motorcycle and the first mass-produced four-valve motorcycle.
The Kawasaki Z1 is a four-cylinder, air-cooled, double-overhead camshaft, carbureted, chain-drive motorcycle introduced in 1972 by Kawasaki. Following the introduction of Honda's CB750 in 1968, the Z1 helped popularize the in-line, across-the-frame four-cylinder, a format that became known as the Universal Japanese Motorcycle or UJM.
The Honda CB360 is a twin cylinder four-stroke motorcycle produced by Honda from 1974 to 1976. It succeeded the Honda CB350 and provided an alternative to the four cylinder CB350F and CB400F. The CB360 was a new design. The 356 cc engine was tuned for broad range torque, and drove the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox. The base CB360 model was equipped with front and rear drum brakes, while the CB360t version had a front hydraulic disc brake.
The Honda CB350 is a 325.6-cubic-centimetre (19.87 cu in) OHC parallel twin cylinder, four-stroke motorcycle produced by Honda for model years 1968 through 1973. With its reliable engine and dual Keihin carburetors, it became one of Honda's best-selling models. More than 250,000 were sold in five years, with 67,180 sold in 1972 alone. The CB350 evolved during its production run with cosmetic changes and improvements to the suspension and brakes.
The GT series is a series of two-stroke chain drive motorcycles manufactured and marketed by Suzuki for model years 1972–1977, with a range of engine capacities and cylinder counts. Certain markets received the GT380 until model year 1980.
The Honda CB200 and CL200 Scrambler are standard and dual-sport motorcycles made from 1973 to 1976. The CB200 replaced the CB175 model and has very similar specifications. The CL200 shares many parts with the CB200 but has an upswept exhaust system to avoid off-road hazards.
The Honda CB250N and CB400N Super Dream are motorcycles manufactured by the Honda Motor Company from 1978 to 1986. The successor to the short lived Dream model, it had a series of revisions including a six-speed transmission and what Honda termed as European styling which resembled the CB750F and CB900F. It was a popular model for Honda with 70,000 bikes sold in the UK alone.
The Kawasaki KR-1 and KR-1S are road-orientated 249 cc (15.2 cu in) two-stroke sports bikes introduced between 1988 and 1992 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
The Honda CB400T is a range of motorcycles built by Honda. In the United Kingdom it was known as the Dream, whereas in the United States it was known as the Hawk. A Honda CB250T version was also available for UK licensing reasons.
The Honda CL360 was a twin cylinder four-stroke scrambler motorcycle produced from 1974 to 1976. It was the successor to the CL350. The CL360 is very similar to the CB360, the most notable difference being the high exhaust pipes that many consider very desirable. Other differences were a higher rear fender than the CB360, as well as braced motocross-style handlebars.
The Laverda 750 is a 744 cc (45.4 cu in) air cooled SOHC 4 stroke parallel twin motorcycle produced by the Italian manufacturer Laverda from 1968 to 1976. Developed from the company's 650, the engine's design drew heavily from the Honda CB77. Around 18,000 machines were produced.
