The Ika Language is a language classified under the Igboid cluster of languages spoken in Delta and Edo States. [2]

The Ika Language is spoken primarily by the Ika people of Delta State and Edo states of southern Nigeria. [3] It has different dialects, spoken across Edo and Delta State. Some of which are the Agbor dialect, the Ede dialect, Awu (Abavo) dialect, Owa dialect, Akumazi dialect, Igbanke dialect, Ekpon dialect e.t.c.

More specifically, the Ika people are in the North-West of Delta State; but some, like Igbanke, Inyelen and Ekpon, are currently in Edo State. Ika communities mostly comprise the following: Agbor, Owa, Umunede, Mbiri, Abavo, Orogodo, Otolokpo, Igbodo, Ute-Okpu, Ute-Ugbeje, Idumuesah, Akumazi, Ekpon, Igbanke, Inyelen, Iru egbede (Edo State). [3]

Other Ika-speaking communities found in Edo State are Owanikeke, Owa-Riuzo Idu, Igbogili, Ute Oheze, Owa Ute, Oheze Ute, Obagie N’Oheze, Oghada, and Ogan and Ute Obagie N’Oheze. On Delta Radio there is now news in the Ika dialect. Ikas have started to write the Bible in their dialect , and the gospels of Mark, Luke, Matthew and John have been published in Ika along with other books. [4] Ifeanyi Okowa is a prominent son of Ika background. [5]

The autonomous communities in Igbanke include; Omolua, Ottah, Idumuodin, Ake, Oligia and Igbontor

Anioma people are one of the Igbo subgroups in present day Delta State, Nigeria. They encompass the communities which span across the 9 northeastern Local Government Areas of Delta State. They occupy the Delta North Senatorial District, which consists of the Enuani, and Ukwuani/ Ndokwa and Ika geographical and linguistic zones of Delta State.

The Ika people are an Ethnic group that is found primarily in Areas of Delta State, Nigeria. These people can be found in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas of Delta State, and in Igbanke and Ekpon areas of Orhiomwon, Uhunmwonde, and Igueben Local Government Areas, respectively, of Edo State.

Ifeanyichukwu Arthur Okowa is a Nigerian doctor and politician who served as Governor of Delta State from May 2015 to May 2023. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he is the party's vice presidential nominee in the 2023 presidential election running alongside Atiku Abubakar.

Ifeanyichukwu is a name of Igbo origin which means "nothing is impossible with God." The name is often shortened as Ifeanyi by most people. The letter 'f' is sometimes replaced with 'h' and is spelled as Iheanyichukwu or Iheanyi by some people with slightly different dialect but the meaning remains the same. Also notable is the fact that the name is given to male child at birth, but in some cases, female child also bear the name.
