Jembrana disease is an acute viral disease of cattle. While it produces relatively mild symptoms in taurine cattle, the Jembrana virus is particularly severe in Bali cattle where it has a fatality rate of approximately 17 percent. Its first documented outbreak occurred in 1964 in the Jembrana district of Bali, Indonesia. Within two years of its appearance the disease had killed an estimated 26,000 of the approximately 300,000 cattle on Bali Island. The Jembrana disease virus belongs to the genus Lentivirus, which include immunodeficiency viruses such as HIV. Instead of the chronic disease produced by most lentiviruses, Jembrana disease produces acute effects. After an incubation period of 5–12 days the disease produces symptoms including loss of appetite, fever, lethargy, enlargement of the lymph nodes, and diarrhea. There is at least one strain that has been sequenced.

The 1976 Bali earthquake occurred at 15:13 local time on 14 July with a surface wave magnitude of 6.5. The shock occurred 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of the Bali Sea coast of the Buleleng Regency, and about 65 kilometres (40 mi) northwest of Denpasar. Up to ninety percent of houses in Buleleng Regency were seriously damaged or destroyed and the Seririt sub-district was almost completely destroyed, where a school building collapsed and trapped at least 200 students. 573 people are believed to have died; at least 544 in Buleleng Regency, 24 in Jembrana and 5 in Tabanan. Four thousand more suffered injuries and an estimated 450,000 were left temporarily homeless.

North Bali International Airport, was a proposed airport on the island of Bali, Indonesia, located at Kubutambahan, in the kabupaten (regency) of Buleleng. It was a project initiated by the Governor of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika, on 9 July 2015. However, this Project was officially removed from the Government Priority List by President Joko Widodo, which was announced in July 2022, and has also removed 9 other mega projects across Indonesia on the same day.

The 2021 Liga 3 Bali season was the sixth season of Liga 3 Bali as a qualifying round for the national round of the 2021–22 Liga 3. It began on 14 October and ended with a final on 15 December 2021. Perseden were the defending champion and they successfully defended their title following a 1–0 win against PS Jembrana in the final.
