Kerala Janapaksham ('Kerala People's Party') is a political party in Kerala, India. The party is led by K. Raman Pillai. [1] Pillai is the president of the party. [2] Pillai had previously been a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, but formed Kerala Janapaksham in 2007. [3] Baby Ambatt was appointed general secretary of the party in May 2010. [4]

The party offered critical support to the Left Democratic Front. [1]

The party had a cultural wing, Bharatiya Janapaksham. [3] The party had also a trade union wing Kerala Thozhilali Paksham K.Raghunath is this President

Kerala Janapaksham party founding president K. Raman Pillai announced that the party would be dissolved and that they would return to Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2016 [5]

Janmabhumi is an Indian Malayalam-language daily newspaper, owned by Mathruka Pracharanalayam Ltd. and headquartered in Kochi, Kerala. It was launched as an evening paper from Kozhikode on 28 April 1977. From 14 November 1977 onwards it was upgraded to a daily newspaper publishing from Ernakulam. Chacko resigned from Indian National Congress on 10 March 2021, stating that it had become difficult to be a congress leader in Kerala. P.C. Chacko is the first president of Thiruvananthapuram District committee of Kerala Students Union. He was the State president of Indian youth Congress from 1970 to 1973 and held the post of national General secretary of Indian youth Congress during 1973 - 1975. He became the general secretary of KPCC in 1975 and continued till 1979. He was elected to the Kerala Assembly in 1980 from Piravom constituency and during 1980- 81 he served as Minister for Industries in the state cabinet. He was elected to Loksabha in 1991 from Thrissur, in 1996 from Mukundapuram, in 1998 from Idukki and in 2009 again from Thrissur. On 2021 March 16 he joined Nationalist Congress Party, which is an ally of LDF in Kerala. He was appointed President of the Kerala State Unit of Nationalist Congress Party by the National President Sri. Sharad Pawar on 19 May 2021.

Elections to local bodies in Kerala were held in two phrases, on 2 and 5 November 2015. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) won more than half of all gram panchayats and municipalities, and both they and the United Democratic Front (UDF) won majorities in seven out of fourteen district panchayats each. The LDF also won two corporations, the UDF won one, and the remaining three had no overall majority.

The Kerala Congress has suffered severe divisions and several factions, and a number of parties have emerged over the years, all claiming the name Kerala Congress in various times in its history. Factions include Kerala Congress (Joseph) under P. J. Joseph, Kerala Congress (Mani) under K. M. Mani, Kerala Congress under R. Balakrishna Pillai, and Kerala Congress (Jacob) under T. M. Jacob.
