The tour was held in support of her second studio album Breakout (2008) and first extended play (EP) The Time of Our Lives (2009). It began in September 2009 and concluded on December 29, visiting cities in the United States and United Kingdom; thus, the Wonder World Tour became Cyrus' first world tour. It also became Cyrus' first tour not to incorporate performances as Hannah Montana, although "Let's Get Crazy" and "Spotlight", both songs credited to Montana, were performed. Most of the album was recorded during her concert as part of the Super Bowl Music Fest at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 12, 2022, with the set list including songs from her albums Plastic Hearts (2020), Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), Bangerz (2013), The Time of Our Lives (2009), Breakout (2008), and Meet Miley Cyrus (2007), along with multiple cover songs. The album also includes two unreleased tracks—"Attention" and "You". Cyrus said the album was "curated by the fans for the fans".
