This is a list of adult animated films that were made in the 1970s (1970-1979). These are films intended for a more mature audience than many animated films, both short and feature. They are often distinct from television series or web series.

Fritz the Cat and its sequel were among the first animated films to received X and R by the Motion Picture Association of America.

Adam is a 1992 British stop-motion clay animated short film written, animated and directed by Peter Lord of Aardman Animations. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short and the BAFTA Film Award for Short Animation in 1992, and won two awards at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 1993. The film, which was distributed by Aardman, is based on the beginning of the Book of Genesis.

Cossacks is a series of Ukrainian animated comedy short films originally shot at the Kyivnaukfilm film studio and in later series created by the UkrAnimaFilm and Baraban animation studios. This series is sometimes titled "Yak Kozaky" in Ukrainian or "Kak Kazaki" in Russian. The author of the original script and director was Volodymyr Dakhno. The first episode was released in 1967 and was titled "How the Cossacks Cooked Kulish". The cartoon immediately gained popularity and its heroes became Ukrainian cartoon classics.

The Windshield Wiper is a 2021 Spanish-American computer-cel adult animated short film directed and co-produced by Alberto Mielgo alongside Leo Sánchez. The film won the award for Best Animated Short Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
