This article lists metropolitan or district level planning agencies in India grouped by their home state or union territory. Planning agencies are different from Municipal Authorities in their mandate and functions. They are responsible for infrastructure development, slum rehabilitation, preparation and implementation of master plans, eco-friendly schemes, transportation etc. [1] Note that a metropolitan area may have more than one such agency.

Warangal served as the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty which was established in 1163. The monuments left by the Kakatiyas include fortresses, lakes, temples and stone gateways which, in the present, helped the city to become a popular tourist attraction. The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam was included in the emblem of Telangana by the state government and Warangal is also touted as the cultural capital of Telangana.

It is the headquarters of Kuppam mandal in the Kuppam Revenue Division. The name "Kuppam" means a meeting place or confluence.

National Highway 4 was a major National Highway before National Highway renumbering in Western and Southern India. NH 4 was 1,235 km (767 mi) in length and passed through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is now numbered as National Highway 48 (India). National Highway 4 was known as P.B.Road in many parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka states before it was renumbered.

Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority, officially Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), is an autonomous body created by the Government of Karnataka under the BMRDA Act 1985 for the purpose of planning, co-ordinating and supervising the proper and orderly development of the areas within the Bangalore Metropolitan Region (BMR) which comprises Bangalore Urban district, Bangalore Rural district and Ramanagara District. Since 2007, BMRDA covers an area of 8,005 km2 (3,091 sq mi), the second largest metropolitan area in India, after the Amaravati Metropolitan Region. Bangalore has also emerged as India's fifth largest metropolitan city by population (also the third largest city proper by population). Unlike the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the BMRDA does not have the power to acquire land.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is the urban planning agency of Hyderabad in the Indian state of Telangana. The HMDA administers the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of 7,257 km2 (2,802 sq mi) and covers the districts of Hyderabad district, Medchal district, part of Rangareddy district, Bhuvanagiri district, Sangareddy district, Medak district and Siddipet district. HMDA is the largest urban development authority in India. HMDA was formed by the merging of the following erstwhile entities: Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Hyderabad Airport Development Authority (HADA), Cyberabad Development Authority (CDA) and Buddha Poornima Project Authority (BPPA). HMDA was set up for the purposes of planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned development of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region. It coordinates the development activities of the municipal corporations, municipalities and other local authorities, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board, the Telangana State Transmission Corporation, the Telangana State Infrastructure Corporation.

Surat Urban Development Authority is the urban planning agency of Surat, India. It is also known as Surat Metropolitan Region or Surat Metropolitan Area. SUDA was formed on 31 January 1978, under Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Act - 1976, with the jurisdiction area of 722 km2 which covers SMC and 195 villages surrounding SMC.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is a body of the Government of Maharashtra that is responsible for preparation of Regional Plan for MMR and the infrastructure development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The MMRDA was created on 26 January 1975 under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Act, 1974 Government of Maharashtra. The agency is responsible for planning and coordination of development activities in the Region.

The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority or VUDA was the urban planning agency of Visakhapatnam, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1978, vide an act of the State Assembly of Andhra Pradesh. Its jurisdiction was expanded in 2018 by merging it with the surrounding mandals to form Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

It was formed by expanding the existing Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA). The VMRDA administers the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of 7,328.86 km2 (2,829.69 sq mi) and covers the districts of Visakhapatnam,Vizianagaram and Anakapalli. It was set up for the purposes of planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned development of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region. It coordinates the development activities of the municipal corporations, municipalities and other local authorities.

The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) is the urban planning agency of Nagpur in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The NMRDA administers the Nagpur Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of 3,567.37 km2 (1,377.37 sq mi). It replaced the erstwhile Nagpur Improvement Trust. It was set up to plan, coordinate, supervise, promote, and secure the planned development of the Nagpur Metropolitan Region. It coordinates the development activities of municipal corporations, municipalities, and other local authorities.

The Srikakulam Urban Development Authority is an urban planning agency in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was constituted on 12 February 2019, under Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016 with the headquarters located at Srikakulam.

The Palamaner Kuppam Madanapalle Urban Development Authority (PKM-UDA) is an urban planning agency in erstwhile Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was constituted on 12 February 2019, under Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016 with the headquarters located at Madanapalle.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nashik Metropolitan Region Development Authority</span>

Nashik Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) is the Planning and Development Authority for the Nashik Metropolitan Region. It was notified in the year 2018, making an urban unit in Maharashtra. NMRDA covers, Nashik city and all Talukas of Nashik: Niphad, Sinnar, Dindori, Igatpuri, and Trimbakeshwar. NMRDA has been set up as a legally empowered and a self-financing corporate body by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra.
