Rood End railway station was on the former Great Western route from Birmingham Snow Hill to Stourbridge Junction. The station opened in 1867 and closed some 18 years later. [1] [2] It was located about one mile north of the current Langley Green railway station. The line is still in use, although there is no sign of the former station.

GWR 4900 Class 4965 <i>Rood Ashton Hall</i>

The Great Western Railway steam locomotive no. 4965 Rood Ashton Hall is a 4-6-0 Hall class locomotive. It is preserved at Tyseley Locomotive Works. The engine operates in its Great Western Railway green livery, and performs regularly on the Shakespeare Express, operated by Vintage Trains, between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as various excursions.

Langley Green is an area of the town of Oldbury, on the B4169 road, in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, in the English county of West Midlands. The appropriate ward of Sandwell is simply called Langley. The population at the 2011 census was 12,969. Langley Green has a library, a theatre and a railway station called Langley Green railway station. The Oldbury Rep Theatre, which had its first production in 1944, moved to its current location in 1956. The theatre is Sandwell's only purpose-built theatre. It hosts a variety of productions and has established itself as a community theatre providing a venue for local organisations and schools.
