The 1999 Wakefield Metropolitan District Council election took place on 6 May 1999 to elect members of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council in West Yorkshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour party kept overall control of the council. [1]

West Yorkshire came into existence as a metropolitan county in 1974 after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972.
