The Much Countdown (also known as the Much Top 30 Countdown, and formerly known as The MuchMusic Top 20 Countdown) is an hour-long musical television program, usually hosted by a VJ, that aired on Canadian music television station MuchMusic from 1996 to 2017. [1] [2] Countdown was one of the longest-running programs that has aired on MuchMusic since the channel's debut. Originally sponsored by Coca-Cola, it was known for the first several years as the Coca-Cola Countdown. [3]
The program aired a playlist of the most well-known songs in the mainstream. The order that the videos were played went from No. 30 to No. 1, although only about 10-12 of those videos were actually played. Most of the videos that went unplayed were older videos that were fading off the charts, or less popular videos. A video that was moving down the chart or was in the same spot as that previous week would in general not get played. Every video debuting on the chart was played. A music video that reached the No. 1 spot usually stayed there for 1–2 weeks.

Total Request Live is an American television program broadcast on MTV that premiered on September 14, 1998. The early version of TRL featured popular music videos played during its countdown, and was also used as a promotion tool by musicians, actors, and other celebrities to promote their newest works to the show's target teen demographic.
IMX was an American music television program that aired daily from 2002 to 2004 on MMUSA. Described as a "fully converged music industry simulation game" and "part TV show, part Internet game," the program asked viewers to register at the network's website and buy "stock" in popular artists, songs, and albums. In dealing the "shares", traders used the fake cash to enter network-sponsored contests. A rebranded successor, "Daily Download", was terminated in July 2006.
Much is a Canadian English language discretionary specialty channel owned by BCE Inc. through its Bell Media subsidiary that airs programming aimed at teenagers and young adults. Rage is an all-night Australian music video program broadcast on ABC TV on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and Saturday nights. It was first screened on the weekend of Friday, 17 April 1987. With Soul Train and Video Hits no longer being produced, it is the oldest music television program currently still in production as of 2023. On Friday and Saturday nights, Rage typically starts between 11:00pm and 1:00am.
MuchOnDemand is an hour-long per broadcast viewer interactive television program aired on MuchMusic, Monday through Friday at 5pm ET. It was broadcast live from 299 Queen Street West in Toronto, Ontario. The Best of MuchOnDemand, aired Sundays at 10am ET, highlighting the best moments on the show from the past week. MuchOnDemand acted as MuchMusic's flagship show in a similar manner as MTV's U.S. music video countdown show Total Request Live.

The 20 is a weekly music video countdown television show that aired on the VH1 cable television network in the United States. The long-running show was first introduced in 1994 as VH1 Top 10 Countdown, part of VH1's "Music First" re-branding effort. Over the years, a variety of hosts counted down the top 10 or 20 music videos of the week. The order of countdown was initially decided by a mix of record sales, radio airplay, video spins, message board posts, and conventional mail. The final episode aired unexpectedly without fanfare on November 28, 2015.

Video Hits was an Australian music video program that first aired on 15 February 1987. From 7 May 2011 it broadcast on Network Ten for two hours each Saturday and Sunday morning: 10am – 12pm on Saturdays and 8am – 10am on Sundays. At the time of its cancellation, Video Hits was the world's second longest running music show after the Eurovision Song Contest. The show was cancelled in July 2011 and its last episode aired on 6 August 2011.

The Pepsi Power Hour was a live one-hour program that aired on the MuchMusic television channel in Canada from 1986 to 1991. It ran once weekly every Thursday, until 1989 when a Tuesday hour was added. The show was dedicated to hard rock and heavy metal music videos, and showcased a variety of well and lesser-known artists. It balanced coverage of major international acts, with newer bands, and a variety of Canadian acts both major label and independent. For example, members of Canadian bands such as Brighton Rock, Helix, and Triumph were invited to co-host the show. On other installments, independent artists such as Mif from Slash Puppet were brought in for live, in-studio interview segments. International artists also often co-hosted, such as Iron Maiden, Rob Halford, and Motörhead.

The MTV Euro Top 20 was a music chart show on MTV Europe that played Europe's most popular songs and artists. The original format of the show had been shown on the majority of the regional MTV channels in Europe and aired from 1988 until 2009. Variations of the chart still exist today though with new titles such as the MTV Euro Top Chart, Euro Hitlist or MTV Top 20. Although the chart exists on various local MTV channels across Europe, the music aired is largely adapted to the music scene of those regions and thus not a pan-European chart as was originally intended.
"Wavin' Flag" is a song by Somali-Canadian artist K'naan from his album Troubadour (2009). The song was originally written for Somalia and aspirations of its people for freedom. The original single was a hit in Canada and reached number two on the Canadian Hot 100 as the second official single from the album, after the single "ABCs", a minor hit. After an earthquake in Haiti in 2010, a remake of the song by an ad hoc supergroup of Canadian artists, credited as Young Artists for Haiti, became a charity single in Canada, reaching number one on the Canadian Hot 100 in its own right.
