Discovery Channel Poland is a Polish television channel. It shows factual entertainment programming, just as its many siblings around the world.

Discovery Channel has been available in Poland at least since 1998 when the Wizja TV platform launched. The dedicated Polish schedule was launched in 2002. [1]

The channel started using the new Discovery Channel logo on 1 July 2009. [2] [3]

With a share of overall viewing of 0.67 percent, the original American channel was the 17th most watched television channel in Poland in 2011, according to Nielsen statistics. [4] It is by far the most popular of the dedicated documentary channels available in Poland.

On 18 April 2012 Discovery Channel Poland started broadcasting in 16:9 picture format.

The HD version of the Discovery Channel Poland was launched on 17 January 2013 and replaced Discovery HD Showcase on all major TV platforms in Poland.

Telewizja Polska S.A., also known in English as Polish Television, is a public service broadcaster in Poland, founded in 1952. It is the oldest and largest Polish television network. After 2015, when the right-wing populist Law and Justice (PiS) party won the Polish parliamentary election, TVP progressively aligned with the speaking points of the PiS government. In the run-up to the 2023 Polish parliamentary election, TVP was designated as a "propaganda arm" of PiS by European media and as "a factory of hate" by the Polish opposition. However, after the electoral victory of the opposition party the Civic Platform in 2023, a newly-appointed Minister of Culture began a restructuring of the broadcaster and its news segment. On December 27, 2023, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, due to the President's veto on the financing of the company, placed it in liquidation.

Disco polo is a genre of popular dance music, created in Poland in the 1980s. It was initially known as sidewalk music or backyard music. This genre, a type of Polish urban folk music, had great popularity in the 1990s, peaking in 1995–1997, then gradually declining in popularity through the early 21st century. The genre then had a resurgence in the winter of 2007. The Polish PWN dictionary defines the genre as a Polish variant of disco music, with simple melodies and often ribald lyrics.

Eurosport 2 is a sports television network. It is a sister channel to Eurosport 1, which is a division of the Eurosport Network and a unit of Warner Bros. Discovery. Several different versions of the channel exist across Europe, where television rights for sport differ. Television in Poland was introduced on an experimental basis in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.

Eska TV is a free-to-air 24-hour Polish language music channel launched on August 8, 2008, in Poland. In the beginning the channel was only on the Internet. After receiving the license for satellite broadcasting, 28 May 2009 got to offer DTH platform n. April 26, 2011 received a concession for digital terrestrial broadcasting. The channel will be in the first DTT multiplex.

Discovery took a 20% minority interest share in December 2012, and became majority shareholder in the Eurosport venture with TF1 in January 2014, taking a 51% share of the company, On 22 July 2015 Discovery agreed to acquire TF1's remaining 49% stake in the venture.

Universal Channel was a Polish pay-tv-channel owned by NBCUniversal. It launched on 1 December 2007 and It was available on the platforms n, Cyfra+, Cyfrowy Polsat and cable networks UPC Polska, Multimedia Polska, Digital Vectra and Toya. After the merger of n and CYFRA+ to Nc+ the channel was removed from the offer of the new platform. On 12 March 2014 it returned to nc+ again.
