Line 13 is a north-west to south-east line of the Shanghai Metro network. It runs between Jinyun Road in Jiading and Zhangjiang Road in Pudong. It was once used as a dedicated line (Expo line) for the World Expo to serve the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The line is colored pink on system maps.

History

Special Phase

The Special Phase of Line 13 operated between Madang Road and Shibo Avenue, during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Following the end of the Expo, this phase was closed. This part of the line reopened on December 19, 2015, along with the full opening of the line.[ citation needed ]

1st Phase

The 1st Phase of Line 13 ran between all the stations between Jinyun Road and Jinshajiang Road, with 7 stations. The section opened in December 2012. [2]

2nd Phase and 3rd Phase

The two phases ran from Changqing Road to Zhangjiang Road in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park region. The rest of the line was opened on December 19, 2015.[ citation needed ]

Shanghai Metro Line 13 West Extension

West extension: It will be extended for 9.47 km (5.88 mi) from Jinyun Road station to Zhuguang Road station on line 17 and add 5 stations. [13] The stations are: Jizhai Road station; Fangle Road station; Jile Road station; Yunle Road station; and Zhuguang Road station. Construction started on June 28, 2021.

East extension: is part of Phase III adjustment and starts from the current Zhangjiang Road station and ends at Zhangjiang Jidian Port (area), mainly along Zhangdong Road, with a line length of about 4.1 kilometres (2.5 mi). Both are underground lines with 2 stations. [14]

Technology

Rolling Stock

The trains of Line 13 are composed of 6-carriages Class A cars, with a design speed of 80 km/h (50 mph), VVVF AC drive, and a design life of 30 years and are China's first domestically developed trains. Trains have a capacity of about 1,860 people. Carriages are 23.54 metres (77 ft 3 in) in length, 3.0 metres (9 ft 10 in) in width, and 3.8 metres (12 ft 6 in) in height.

09A02 trains (numbers 0942–0945, 0948) were used on Line 13, only used during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, which were reassigned from line 9 to line 13, all of which have now been transferred back to line 9.

Line 10 is a southwest–northeast line of the Shanghai Metro network that opened for service on April 10, 2010. The line runs from Jilong Road to Hongqiao Railway Station, with a branch line from Longxi Road to Hangzhong Road. It has been given the unofficial nickname “Golden Line” as it links many of the city's tourist attractions like Yuyuan and Xintiandi. It connects the Hongqiao International Airport with the downtown core of Shanghai, and also the dense residential districts of Yangpu and Hongkou. Line 11 is a northwest–southeast line of the Shanghai Metro network. Since October 2013, Line 11 serves Kunshan city, making it is the second intercity metro in China after the Guangfo Metro and the first that crosses a provincial boundary. With a single-line mileage of 82.386 kilometres (51.192 mi), it is the third-longest single-line subway line in China, after Line 6 in Chongqing, which is 85.6 km (53.2 mi) long and Line 7 in Wuhan with a length of 83.6 km (51.9 mi). Line 12 is an east–west line of the Shanghai Metro network. It runs from Jinhai Road in Pudong to Qixin Road in Minhang District. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Line 16 (Shanghai Metro)</span> Metro line in Shanghai, China

Line 16 is a rapid transit line serving the south-eastern suburban areas of Shanghai. The line was formerly known as the Lingang line. It was originally designated as Line 21 and was planned as the south part of line 11. The line runs entirely in Pudong New Area, starting from Longyang Road, via Shanghai Wild Animal Park, Huinan Town, ending at Dishui Lake in Nanhui New City. The line is 59 km (37 mi) long and has 13 stations of which three are underground and the rest elevated. Construction begun in early 2009, and the line opened on 29 December 2013. The second phase was completed at the end of 2014.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Middle Huaxia Road station</span> Shanghai Metro station

Middle Huaxia Road is an interchange station on Lines 13 and 16 of the Shanghai Metro. It opened for passenger operations on 28 December 2014, with the extension of Line 16 from Luoshan Road to Longyang Road. On 30 December 2018, it became an interchange station with Line 13 when the phases 2 and 3 extensions of the line to Zhangjiang Road became operational.

Xidu is a station on Line 5 of the Shanghai Metro. Located at Xizha Highway and Huhang Highway in the city's Fengxian District, the station is located on the main branch of Line 5 and opened as part of the southern extension of Line 5 on 30 December 2018. It is an elevated station.

Pingzhuang Highway is a future reserved station on an unopened section of Line 5 of the Shanghai Metro. Located at Pingzhuang Road and Jinhai Highway in the city's Fengxian District, the station is located on the main branch of Line 5 and resides on the southern extension of the line, which opened on 30 December 2018. However, the station did not open at the same time with the rest of the extension. The construction of the tracks through this station has been completed, but the station will not be built until a future date, pending completion of a transportation hub in the vicinity. When opened, it will become the southern terminus of the main branch of Line 5.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lianxi Road station</span> Metro station in Shanghai, China

Lianxi Road is an interchange station on Line 13 and Line 18 of the Shanghai Metro. Located at Lianxi Road and Lüke Road in Pudong, Shanghai, the station opened on 30 December 2018 with the opening of the phases 2 and 3 extensions of Line 13. It became an interchange station with the opening of the remainder of phase one of Line 18 on 30 December 2021. Although this segment of Line 18 was originally scheduled to open by the end of 2020, the opening date has been delayed to late 2021.
