Rajasthan has 11 Municipal Corporations, 33 Municipal Councils and 169 Municipal Boards or Nagar Pachayats. Thus Rajasthan has a total 213 Municipalities or Urban Local Bodies(ULBs). [1] The Rajasthan Municipalities Act, 2009 governs the administration of all the urban local bodies in the state. [2] The Department of Local Self Government of the Rajasthan Government monitors the administration of all the municipalities in the state. [3] The last elections to civic bodies in the state took place in 2019 where 49 municipal bodies with combined 2,105 wards had their elections. Indian National Congress won 961 wards, Bharatiya Janata Party won 737 wards, Bahujan Samaj Party won 16 wards, Communist Party of India (Marxist) won three wards, and the Nationalist Congress Party won two wards. List of municipal corporations or Nagar Nigams of Rajasthan. [5] Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota have two municipal corporations each since October 2019, because their populations have exceeded 10 lakh each. [6] Hence, there are 10 Municipal Corporations in Rajasthan for seven cities. Jaipur has a heritage municipal corporation with 100 wards and a greater Jaipur municipal corporation with 150 wards. Jodhpur has separate ULBs for its northern and southern parts with 80 wards each. Kota also has separate ULBs for its northern and southern parts, with 70 and 80 wards each.

As per census 2011, there were 13 municipal councils. Later, Udaipur and Bharatpur were upgraded to Municipal Corporation. Hence the list have remaining 34 cities.

Jodhpur is the second-largest city of the north-western Indian state of Rajasthan after its capital Jaipur. As of 2011, the city has a population of 1.03 million. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Jodhpur district and Jodhpur division. It is historic capital of the Kingdom of Marwar, founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief of the Rathore clan. On 11 Aug, 1947 four days prior to the Indian independence, Maharaja Hanwant Singh, the last ruler of Jodhpur state signed the Instrument of Accession and merged his state in Union of India. Nadbai is a city and a municipality in Bharatpur district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Nadbai is divided into Katra and Nadbai. Nadbai is also famous for education. It is known as a MINI KOTA.Administratively,It is also a Subdivisional and Tehsil Headquarter of District Bharatpur.

Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is a public transport company which provides bus services in the Indian state Rajasthan. It is headquartered in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The corporation was established by Government of Rajasthan on 1 October 1964 under the Road Transport Act 1950. RSRTC operates ordinary, express and deluxe services. It has 4100 buses in its fleet, 52 depots across Rajasthan and 3 depots outside the state i.e. Indore, Ahmedabad and Delhi. There are around 2230 routes covered which amount to 5437.74 lakh km per year. It carries around 9 lakh passengers per day to their destinations within and outside the state. RSRTC operates services in Rajasthan and adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Jammu Kashmir and Chandigarh. Ticket reservation is available at all bus stations free of charge. Online ticket facility is available for Air conditioned, Deluxe, Semi-deluxe and express buses through Kiosks in Rajasthan as well as through RSRTC mobile application.

Salem City Municipal Corporation (SCMC) is a civic body that governs Salem city, Tamil Nadu, India. It consists of a legislative and an executive body. The legislative body is headed by the city mayor while the executive body is headed by a Chief Commissioner. This corporation consists of 60 wards and is headed by a Mayor who presides over a Deputy Mayor and 60 councillors who represent each ward in the city. SCMC is the fifth largest municipal corporation in Tamil Nadu. For administrative purposes, the Salem corporation is divided into four zones: Suramangalam, Hasthampatty, Ammapettai, and Kondalampatty. Each Zonal Office has its own Zonal Chairman and an Asst. The Urban Improvement Trust is a type of statutory body in the state of Rajasthan, India, constituted for the purpose of promoting urban development.

The 74th constitutional amendment act mandated the setting up and devolution of powers to Urban local bodies (ULBs) or city governments as the lowest unit of governance in cities and towns. This landmark initiative of the Government of India in 1993 was built upon the premise that all ‘power’ in a democracy rightfully belongs to ‘the people’. Power was mandated to be given to the people via the local bodies, namely Municipal Corporations, Councils and Nagar Panchayats, which would have representatives that are elected regularly and have a decisive role in planning, provision and delivery of services.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian state of Rajasthan was reported on 2 March 2020 in Jaipur. The Rajasthan Health Department has confirmed a total of 29,835 cases, including 563 deaths and 21866 recoveries as of 20 July 2020. All districts in the state have reported confirmed cases of which, Jaipur is the worst-affected.
