MMNSS College Kottiyam is an arts and science college and law college named after the social reformer and the founder of Nair Service Society (NSS) Mannathu Padmanabha Pillai. It is located at Kottiyam, a town in Kollam district, Kerala state. MMNSS College Kottiyam is the abbreviated form of Mannam Memorial Nair Service Society College, Kottiyam, Kollam. [1]
In 2012 the first law college in Kerala in the private sector started on the campus of MMNSS College Kottiyam. [2] The college is NSS Law College Kottiyam. It is a self-financing.
MMNSS College, Kottiyam, Kollam is an aided arts, science, commerce and law college, affiliated to the University of Kerala. [3] The college is situated at Kottiyam, a small town 10 km away from Kollam. It is one of 24 colleges of the Nair Service Society, [4] which founded it as a junior college in 1981 [5] and named it in memory of Mannathu Padmanabhan Pillai.
The founder was Mannathu Padmanabhan. The first Principal of the college was Prof. P. Balakrishna Panicker. He was previously the HOD of the Dept of Physics of M G College, Trivandrum.
Degree courses were started during 1991. In 2004 the college was recognised by the University Grants Commission. The college has 40 teaching and 24 non-teaching staff. It offers degree courses in Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Zoology, English, Economics and Commerce. The college received accreditation by the NAAC on 15 June 2009.
