Nahar Singh Mahal is located at Ballabhgarh in Faridabad district of Haryana. [1] [2] This fort was built by the forefathers of Raja Nahar Singh around 1739 AD, and after whom Ballabgarh was named, the construction however continued in parts till about 1850. The fort is also known as Raja Nahar Singh Palace. [1] [3]

Architecture

The elaborate cupolas and minarets of this double-storeyed sandstone structure are fashioned around a vast central courtyard. The palace has six tastefully decorated guest rooms, replete with royal ambiance. [2] The fort was decorated with minars on its four corners of which only two can be seen now due to age and neglect. The palace holds a Darbar-e-aam (Hall of Public Audience) and a Rang Mahal decorated with a beautiful Chhatri. [3]

Restoration

Government of Haryana entrusted its restoration to the well-known specialists Francis Wacziarg and Aman Nath. [3] Aman Nath, a founding member of INTACH, [4] and his French business partner Francis Wacziarg, are conservationists and the founders of Neemrana Hotels. [5]

Current status

Heritage hotel

This palace is now a heritage property managed by Haryana Tourism. [2] It has been renovated and converted into a motel-cum-restaurant. The palace has been renewed into an outstanding specimen of architectural design with help of team of experts. [1] [2]

Kartik Cultural Festival

Kartik Cultural Festival, the main annual fair held in the month of November since 1996, is celebrated at Nahar Singh Mahal. It is held by the Haryana Tourism, during the bright and auspicious autumn month of Kartik as per Vikram Samvat calendar. [6] [7] [8]

Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi) located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The town of Amer and the Amber Fort were originally built by Raja Man Singh and additions were, later, made by Sawai Jai Singh. Nahar Singh Raja of Ballabgarh

Raja Nahar Singh was the ruler of the princely state of Ballabhgarh in Faridabad District of Haryana, India. He fought the British The East India Company in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 along with Rao Tula Ram and Rao Gopal Dev. The small kingdom of Ballabhgarh is only 20 miles from Delhi. His palace was taken over by the government of Haryana under Haryana Tourism. Nahar Singh Stadium in Faridabad is named after him. The Raja Nahar Singh metro station in Violet line is also named after him.

Ballabgarh, is a large town, nearby Faridabad city and a tehsil (subdistrict) in Faridabad district of Haryana, India, and is part of the National Capital Region. The town was founded by Raja Balram Singh, in 1739, who also built the Nahar Singh Mahal palace in the same year. Raja Nahar Singh (1823–1858) was the last king of the princely state. He was executed for taking part in the 1857 war of independence in 1858. The town of Ballabhgarh is only 18 miles (29 km) from Delhi, and today lies on the National Highway 19, a major portion of historical Grand Trunk Road. Bhima Devi Temple Site Museum

The Bhima Devi Temple Complex, nicknamed Khajuraho of North India for its erotic sculptures, comprises the restored ruins of an ancient Hindu temple dating from between 8th and 11th century AD, together with the adjacent 17th-century Pinjore gardens, located in Pinjore town in Panchkula district of the state of Haryana, India. The old temple was destroyed by Islamic invaders and the present 8-11th CE temple is likely built on the same place under the old name, and the nearby ancient baoli still has old Hindu pillars. Bhimadevi belongs to the Shakti tradition that was derived from the Buddhist tantric goddess. Further, in the Devi Mahatmya it is said that in the Western Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh, Bhimadevi appeared in an enormous form of Bhimarupa and gave protection to the sages. The site was worked upon extensively by the team of Speaking Archaeologically from 2017 to 2019, with preliminary survey beginning as early as in 2015 and the report was published as the Speaking Archaeologically Journal Volume III:Bhima Devi Project Edition in 2020.

Datia Palace

Datia Palace, also known as Bir Singh Palace or Bir Singh Dev Palace, is situated nearly 75 km from Gwalior city in Madhya pradesh. The specialty of the palace is that it has 7 floors and no member of the royal family lived in the palace. The founder of the Datia State in Bundelkhand - Maharaj Birsingh Deo Build many such 52 monuments all around the country. Datia Palace is also known as Satkhanda Palace, Datia Mahal, and Purana Mahal or the "Old Palace". Historian Abdul Hamid Lahori came to this city with Shah Jahan on 19 November 1635. He said that the palace was nearly 80 meters long and was also this much broad. He said this as a very beautiful and strong palace.

Aman Nath is an Indian writer, hotelier, and architectural restorer. He is the co-founder and co-chairman of the Neemrana Hotels chain, along with Francis Wacziarg. Both are today credited for pioneering the heritage hotels movement in India. They started in 1991. Since then, they have acquired over 25 heritage properties and converted them into heritage hotels after restoration. Nath has published several illustrated books on Rajasthan and Indian arts.

The Orchha Fort complex, which houses a large number of ancient monuments consisting of the fort, palaces, temple, and other edifices, is located in the Orchha town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The fort and other structures within it were built by the Bundela Rajputs starting from the early 16th century by King Rudra Pratap Singh of the Orchha State and others who followed him.
