SLAMM!! Events was a Netherlands based mixed martial arts and Muay Thai promotion based in Almere, Netherlands. They organized their flagship "Nederland vs Thailand" series, a ten-hour marathon of mixed martial arts and kickboxing fights [1] as well as an international events in Spain, Belgium, Italy and Suriname. The Slamm events were delay broadcast to 52 countries on Eurosport. [2]
Slamm MMA fights were conducted under different rules from the North American Unified Rules. Among the differences were the allowance of knees and stomps to the head of downed opponent. However elbows to the head and soccer kicks were prohibited. Muay Thai fights were conducted under full muay thai rules with elbows 5 X 3 rounds.
As of SLAMM: Nederland vs. Thailand VII, which occurred May 27, 2012, there have been 17 SLAMM events held.

Shoot wrestling is a combat sport that originated in Japan's professional wrestling circuit (Puroresu) of the 1970s. Professional wrestlers of that era attempted to use more realistic or even "full contact" moves in their matches to increase their excitement, diminishing or eschewing the theatrical elements and acrobatics, looking more similar to an actual, unscripted fight. The name "shoot wrestling" comes from the professional wrestling term "shoot", which refers to any unscripted occurrence within a scripted wrestling event. The International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) is a sanctioning body for kickboxing and Muay Thai based in the United States. An elbow strike is a strike with the point of the elbow, the part of the forearm nearest to the elbow, or the part of the upper arm nearest to the elbow.
