Susan Leigh Star (1954–2010) was an American sociologist. She specialized in the study of information in modern society; information worlds; information infrastructure; classification and standardization; sociology of science; sociology of work; and the history of science, medicine, technology, and communication/information systems. She commonly used the qualitative methods methodology and feminist theory approach. She was also known for developing the concept of boundary objects and for contributions to computer-supported cooperative work.

British Journal for the Philosophy of Science (BJPS) is a peer-reviewed, academic journal of philosophy, owned by the British Society for the Philosophy of Science (BSPS) and published by University of Chicago Press. The journal publishes work that uses philosophical methods in addressing issues raised in the natural and human sciences.

SLAS Discovery is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) in partnership with SAGE Publications. The editor-in-chief is Robert M. It is published by SAGE Publications on behalf of the American Sociological Association, of which this is an official journal.

The Journal of South Asian Development is a peer-reviewed journal. It is a forum for discussing all facets of development in South Asia, comprising Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives, and is published three times in a year by SAGE Publications. The Journal was launched in 2006.

There are a number of approaches to ranking academic publishing groups and publishers. Rankings rely on subjective impressions by the scholarly community, on analyses of prize winners of scientific associations, discipline, a publisher's reputation, and its impact factor.
