Anthony Richard Clarke, known as Tony Clarke, is a British former Member of Parliament, who is currently a teacher at Northampton College. A politician of the left, Clarke was until recently the Green Party National Spokesperson on International and Foreign Affairs; previously a British Labour Party politician, he was Member of Parliament for Northampton South from 1997 to 2005. Clarke was also a director of Northampton Town F.C. for 11 years from 1999 to 2010, and served as General Manager at the club between 2005 and 2008. He served three terms on Northampton Borough Council and one term on Northamptonshire County Council (Independent). He also served as a Special Constable with Northamptonshire Police between 2003 and 2007.
The Borough of Kettering was a local government district and borough in Northamptonshire, England, from 1974 to 2021. It was named after its main town, Kettering, where the council was based. It bordered onto the district of Harborough in the neighbouring county of Leicestershire, the borough of Corby, the district of East Northamptonshire, the district of Daventry and the borough of Wellingborough.
The 2005 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 5 May 2005, with various councils and local government seats being contested in England and Northern Ireland, and a local referendum taking place on the Isle of Wight on the issue of a directly elected mayor. Northampton Borough Council was the local authority for Northampton in Northamptonshire, England and was elected every four years. From the last boundary changes in 1999, 47 councillors were elected from 23 wards. The borough council was abolished in 2021, with the area becoming part of West Northamptonshire.

Elections to Rossendale Borough Council were held on 1 May 2008. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party gained overall control of the council from no overall control. Overall turnout was up by one per cent from the last election in 2007 at 36.3%.
The 2007 Wakefield Metropolitan District Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council in West Yorkshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour party kept overall control of the council.
The 2007 Woking Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Woking Borough Council in Surrey, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative Party gained overall control of the council from no overall control.
The 2012 Scottish local elections were held on 3 May 2012 in all 32 local authorities. The Scottish National Party (SNP) overtook Labour to win the highest share of the vote, and retained and strengthened its position as the party with most councillors. Labour also made gains, while the Liberal Democrats experienced meltdown, losing over half their seats and falling behind the Conservatives. For the first time since the introduction of the Single Transferable Vote system, the SNP won majority control of 2 councils, from no overall control. Labour also won majority control of 2 councils from no overall control, while retaining majority control over 2 councils.
Elections to High Peak Borough Council in Derbyshire, England were held on 3 May 2007. All of the council was up for election and the control of the council changed from no overall control to Conservative control. Overall turnout was 38.2%.
Elections to Broxtowe Borough Council were held on 5 May 2011 to elect all 44 members to the Council.
An election to Northamptonshire County Council took place on 2 May 2013 as part of the 2013 United Kingdom local elections. Following a boundary review, the number of county councillors was reduced from 73 to 57 from this election. All members were elected by first-past-the-post voting from single-member electoral divisions for a four-year term of office. The Conservative Party held on to their overall majority, having held overall control of the council since 2005.
