Allmusic awarded the album 3 stars with its review by Scott Yanow stating, "this otherwise unremarkable set is sparked by the inclusion of the young trumpeter Freddie Hubbard (recently arrived from Indianapolis) and tenor saxophonist Yusef Lateef...
