Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) is an automobile factory located in Lincoln, Alabama. It builds light truck Honda vehicles (pickup trucks and crossover SUVs) for sale in North America. Production began on November 14, 2001 and was the first Honda factory to both produce engines and assemble vehicles under the same roof. HMA is the sole manufacturer of the Honda Odyssey, Honda Passport, Honda Pilot, and Honda Ridgeline.

The first vehicle the factory produced was the Honda Odyssey in 2001. [1] In 2004 the Honda Pilot was added as the second vehicle the factory was producing. [2] In 2009 the Alabama factory picked up production of the Honda Ridgeline. [3] Between 2009-2010 the factory produced the V6-engined model of the Honda Accord, [4] but all production of the Accord has since moved back to the Marysville Auto Plant. In 2013 the factory began production of the 2014 Acura MDX. [5] [ dead link ] [6] [7] From May 2017 Honda started to dual-source Acura MDX from both Alabama and East Liberty Auto Plant [8] [9] until Alabama switched from producing MDX to additional Pilot at the end of 2017. [10]

In 2019, Honda Alabama produced over 351,000 vehicles and V6 engines. [11]

Pilots are currently manufactured in Lincoln, Alabama, and the Pilot was produced in Alliston, Ontario until April 2007. The first generation Pilot was released in April 2002 as a 2003 model.

The Honda Passport is a line of sport utility vehicles (SUV) from the Japanese automaker Honda. Originally, it was a badge engineered version of the Isuzu Rodeo, a mid-size SUV sold between 1993 and 2002. It was introduced in 1993 for the 1994 model year as Honda's first entry into the growing SUV market of the 1990s in the United States. The first and second generation Passport was manufactured by Subaru Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. Like various other Honda models, it re-used a name from their motorcycle division, the Honda C75 Passport. The other two name candidates were Elsinore and Odyssey, the latter would be re-used a year later on a minivan.

The J-series is Honda's fourth production V6 engine family introduced in 1996, after the C-series, which consisted of three dissimilar versions. The J-series engine was designed in the United States by Honda engineers. It is built at Honda's Anna, Ohio, and Lincoln, Alabama, engine plants.

Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) is Honda's term for its variable displacement technology, which saves fuel by using the i-VTEC system to disable one bank of cylinders during specific driving conditions—for example, highway driving. The second version of VCM (VCM-2) took this a step further, allowing the engine to go from 6 cylinders, down to 4, and further down to 3 as the computer sees fit. The most recent version of VCM (VCM-3) reverted to the previous 3- and 6-cylinder operation.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering is the marketing name given to an automobile body structure design by Honda. It claims to distribute collision energy evenly and redirect it away from the passenger compartment, while at the same time, minimizing damage to other impacted vehicles. This is accomplished by using numerous grades of steel which crumple in key areas and remain rigid in others. It is standard on all Honda and Acura models as of the 2017 model year.

The Acura ZDX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with a sloping rear roofline developed by Honda for its upmarket brand Acura. The car was originally planned to be called the "MSX".
