Honda Ye

The Honda Ye is a family of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and a sub-brand of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda. Founded in 2024, it is set to be produced and marketed for the Chinese market. The Ye is a part of Honda's plan to introduce 10 battery electric vehicle models in China by 2027, six of which are from the Ye. The Ye refers to the letter "烨", which is translated to "shine brilliantly" in Chinese.

History

At the Auto China in April 2024, the Japanese manufacturer Honda presents its new line of BEV's and sub-brand Ye, whose models will be produced and marketed in China from 2024. [1] [2] The first two models from the Ye series are the P7 and S7, the former two to be produced through the Honda's respective joint ventures GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda, while the third one is the GT. [3] [4]

In 2021, CAAM reported China had sold 3.34 million passenger electric vehicles, consisting 2.73 million BEVs and 0.6 million PHEV, which is around 53% share of the global market of 6.23 million "new energy" passenger vehicles – BEVs, PHEVs, and HEVs. Shenzhen BYD New Energy Co., Ltd., trading as Denza, is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in Shenzhen, China, specialising in luxury electric cars and a joint venture between BYD Auto Industry and the Mercedes-Benz Group. Founded in May 2010, in late 2014 the company introduced its first model, the Denza EV. The car was initially put on sale in selected Chinese cities only. In late 2021, Denza underwent a restructuring as Mercedes-Benz reduced its share to 10%, while BYD held the rest.

Ioniq is an automotive sub-brand and a division of Hyundai Motor Company with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The sub-brand was established in 2020 as a sub-brand for Hyundai's electric vehicle line-up. The sub-brand is slated to aid Hyundai to achieve a targeted one million electric vehicle sales annually by 2025, with the Ioniq brand projected to contribute 560,000 of those sales.

The Toyota bZ4X, also marketed in Japan, Australia, US, Canada, Europe, and China as the Subaru Solterra, is a battery electric compact crossover SUV manufactured by Toyota. The vehicle debuted in April 2021 as the "bZ4X Concept". It is the first vehicle to be based on the e-TNGA platform co-developed by Toyota and Subaru, and the brand's first model to be part of their Toyota bZ series of zero-emissions vehicles.

The Honda Ye P7 and Honda Ye S7 are upcoming battery electric compact crossover SUVs (C-segment) produced by Honda, through its respective joint ventures GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda. Both vehicles are marketed solely in China. They are the first members of the Honda Ye series of vehicles.

The Honda Ye GT is battery electric concept car produced by Honda. Marketed solely in China, the production version of the GT will be the second of the Honda Ye series of vehicles when it enters production in 2025.
