Honda Ye GT
The Honda Ye is a family of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and a sub-brand of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda. Founded in 2024, it is set to be produced and marketed for the Chinese market. The Ye is a part of Honda's plan to introduce 10 battery electric vehicle models in China by 2027, six of which are from the Ye. The Ye refers to the letter "烨", which is translated to "shine brilliantly" in Chinese.
At the Auto China in April 2024, the Japanese manufacturer Honda presents its new line of BEV's and sub-brand Ye, whose models will be produced and marketed in China from 2024. [1] [2] The first two models from the Ye series are the P7 and S7, the former two to be produced through the Honda's respective joint ventures GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda, while the third one is the GT. Ioniq is an automotive sub-brand and a division of Hyundai Motor Company with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The sub-brand was established in 2020 as a sub-brand for Hyundai's electric vehicle line-up. The sub-brand is slated to aid Hyundai to achieve a targeted 1 million electric vehicle sales annually by 2025, with the Ioniq brand projected to contribute 560,000 of those sales.
iCar Ecological Technology Co., Ltd., trading as iCar, is a subsidiary of Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery. The iCar brand was established as an electric vehicle brand in April 2023, following several previous usage of the trademark by Chery. iCar started sales of its first vehicle, the iCar 03 SUV in February 2024.
The Honda Ye P7 and Honda Ye S7 are upcoming battery electric mid-size crossover SUVs (D-segment) produced by Honda, through its respective joint ventures GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda. Both vehicles are marketed solely in China. They are the first members of the Honda Ye series of vehicles.
The Honda Ye GT is battery electric concept car produced by Honda. Marketed solely in China, the production version of the GT will be the second of the Honda Ye series of vehicles when it enters production in 2025.
There are currently about 150 active brands in the Chinese automobile market. Among them are 97 Chinese domestic brands and 43 joint venture (JV) brands. Before 2010, the traditional "Big Four" refers to the four major state-owned car manufacturers, SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng and Changan. Other Chinese car manufacturers, both from public and private sectors, like Geely, BAIC, BYD, Chery, GAC, Great Wall, JAC and Seres emerged as the major players with the expansion of Chinese automotive industry.
