This is a list of Indonesia's official representatives and their placements at the Big Four international beauty pageants. The country has placed 29 times and won once:
Hundreds of beauty pageants are conducted yearly, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, [1] widely covered and broadcast by media. [2] The Wall Street Journal, [3] [4] BBC News, [5] CNN, [6] Xinhua News Agency, [7] and global news agencies such as Reuters [8] and Agence France-Presse [9] [10] collectively refer to the four major pageants as "Big Four" namely: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth. The Indonesian franchise holders of the four major beauty pageants are the following:
The criteria for the Big Four inclusion are based on specific standards such as the pageant's international prominence and prestige accepted by mainstream media; the quality and quantity of crowned delegates recognized by international franchisees; the winner's post pageant activities; the pageant's longevity, consistency, and history; the execution of the pageant's specific cause, platform, and advocacy; the overall pre-pageant activities, production quality and global telecast; the enormity of internet traffic; and the extent of popularity across the globe. [21]
Indonesia's representatives to the Miss Universe pageant in 1974, 1975, 1976 1977, 1980, 1982, and 1983 were chosen by a local pageant organizer. The title was awarded through the Ratu Indonesia Organization. In 1995, Puteri Indonesia took over the license. [22] In February 2023, Miss Universe Indonesia took over the license to select Indonesia's Miss Universe representative. [23] On August 12, 2023, the Miss Universe Organization officially terminated their franchise contract with PT. Capella Swastika Karya and Capella after sexual abuse scandal which happened in Miss Universe Indonesia 2023. [24]
Indonesia's representatives to the Miss International pageant in 1960, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1976, and 1977 were chosen by a local pageant organizer. The title was awarded through the Puteri Remaja Indonesia Organization. In 2007, Puteri Indonesia took over the license. [25]
Indonesia's representatives to the Miss World pageant in 1982 and 1983 were also chosen by a local pageant organizer. The title was awarded through the Ratu Indonesia Organization. In 2005, Puteri Indonesia took over the license and in 2006, Miss Indonesia was esthablished and started to send its winner to the Miss World pageant. [26] In 2007, Miss Earth Indonesia was established and the winner would represent the country at the Miss Earth pageant. In 2022, Putri Nusantara took over the license and select one of the winner to be Miss Earth Indonesia.
Indonesia had its first Big Four placement in 1976 when Treesye Ratri Astuti advanced as one of the top 15 finalists of Miss International 1976. A year later, Indri Hapsari Soeharto secured the 2nd Runner-Up position at Miss International 1977. This was Indonesia's highest placement in any Big Four pageants until 2015 when Maria Harfanti also ended up as the 2nd Runner-Up at Miss World 2015. [27] It was surpassed in 2017 when Kevin Lilliana won Miss International 2017, being Indonesia's highest placement and its only victory so far. [28]
At Miss Universe, Indonesia has placed as one of the semi-finalists since 2013, except in 2017 and 2022 (unplaced); the country did not participate in 2021. [29] Indonesia currently has a 10-year-long ongoing placement streak at Miss World since 2011, the longest active ongoing placement streak. The country also won Beauty With A Purpose award consecutively from 2014 to 2017. [30] In 2021, Indonesia finally got its first Miss Earth placement by Monica Fransisca Antoinette Khonado, after participating for 17 years. [31]

Puteri Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia that sends its winner to represent the country at Miss International, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. Puteri Indonesia is traditionally held in March, alongside the celebration of International Women's Day. The pageant also sends representatives to Miss Supranational and Miss Charm pageants, by giving Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata titles to the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively.
Miss Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia, organized by MNC Group under Miss Indonesia Organization, chaired by Liliana Tanoesoedibjo and sponsored by Sariayu Martha Tilaar. The winner of Miss Indonesia represents the country in Miss World pageant, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants and participates in various social actions in cooperation with Yayasan Jalinan Kasih, MNC Peduli and Miss World Organization program, Beauty with a Purpose.
Miss Earth Indonesia is a discontinued beauty pageant from Indonesia that selected Indonesian representative in the Miss Earth pageant. The Miss Earth Indonesia competition was abolished in 2021 because of El John Pageant lost the franchise of Miss Earth and rebranded the pageant with Putri Bumi Indonesia From 2022, the licenseholder of Miss Earth pageant is PT. Mahakarya Duta Pesona Indonesia and make a new pageant named Putri Nusantara which Miss Earth Indonesia is selected as one of the winner from that pageant.
Miss Universe Indonesia is a beauty pageant and organization that selects Indonesia's official representative for Miss Universe—one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
The Miss Guatemala or Miss Guatemala Universo is a national Beauty pageant in Guatemala. The pageant was founded in 1955, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe.

Anindya Kusuma Putri is an Indonesian actress, model, tv host and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2015. She represented her country at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. She is the fourth Indonesian and the second Javanese to be called as Miss Universe Finalist.
Puteri Indonesia 2016, the 20th Puteri Indonesia pageant, was held on February 19, 2016 at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia. Anindya Kusuma Putri, Puteri Indonesia 2015 of Central Java, crowned her successor Kezia Warouw of North Sulawesi at the end of the event. All 39 contestants from 34 provinces competed for the crown. The winner represented Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2016, while the runners-up competed at Miss International 2016, Miss Supranational 2016, and Miss Grand International 2016. Also Miss International 2015 Edymar Martínez of Venezuela attend at the Grand Final Show. It is traditional for Miss Universe to attend on the Final Show of Puteri Indonesia, but Miss Universe 2015 of the Philippines had fashion show scheduled in New York City at the same time, and could not attend. Miss International 2015 replaced her as special guest.
Kezia Roslin Cikita Warouw is an Indonesian National Narcotics Board, TV presenter, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Puteri Indonesia 2016. She represented Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, and placed "Top 13", the second highest placement that an Indonesian representative has achieved. She also won "Miss Phoenix Smile" and placed as a Top 10 in Best in National Costume competition at Miss Universe 2016. She is the fifth Indonesian and the first Minahasan to be called as Miss Universe Finalists.
Bunga Jelitha Ibrani is an Indonesian actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Supermodel International 2011 and also Puteri Indonesia 2017. She represented Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2017, where she didn't make into the Top 16, but she won "Miss Photogenic" award.
Putri Indonesia 2018, the 22nd Puteri Indonesia pageant, was held on March 9, 2018 at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia. Bunga Jelitha, Puteri Indonesia 2017 of Jakarta SCR 5, crowned her successor, Sonia Fergina Citra of Bangka Belitung, at the end of the event. She defeated 38 other candidates to win the title of Miss Universe Indonesia 2018 and represented Indonesia at Miss Universe 2018, where she placed as one of the Top 20 finalists.
Sonia Fergina Citra is an Indonesian model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Puteri Indonesia 2018. She represented her country at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant held in at IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi Province, north of Bangkok, Thailand. Sonia became the sixth Indonesian, third Sumatran and the second representative of Bangka Belitung to place in the semifinals in Miss Universe history.
Puteri Indonesia 2020, the 24th Puteri Indonesia pageant, was held on 6 March 2020 at Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. Frederika Alexis Cull, Puteri Indonesia 2019, crowned her successor, Raden Roro Ayu Maulida Putri of East Java at the end of the event. She represented Indonesia at Miss Universe 2020, where she placed among the Top 20 finalists.
Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan is a beauty pageant title organised by Puteri Indonesia. In 2008-2022, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan competed at Miss International. Starting in 2023, the titleholder of Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan will represent Indonesia in Miss Supranational.
Miss Mega Bintang Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia that selects the country's representatives in seven international beauty pageants namely Miss Grand International, Miss Face of Humanity, Miss Eco International, Reina Hispanoamericana, World Top Model, Reina Internacional del Cacao, and Miss Aura International.
Putri Nusantara is a beauty pageant from PT Mahakarya Duta Pesona Indonesia that selected Indonesian representatives in the one of Big Four international beauty pageants, Miss Earth from 2022 also Miss Aesthetic International and Miss Global pageants from 2023. The recent titleholders are Cindy Inanto as Miss Earth Indonesia 2023, Jennifer Calista Joo as Miss Aesthetic Indonesia 2023, and Cynthia Kurniawan Ong as Miss Global Indonesia 2023. Cindy Inanto will represent Indonesia at Miss Earth 2023, Jennifer Calista Joo will represent Indonesia at Miss Aesthetic International 2023, and Cynthia Kurniawan Ong will represent Indonesia at Miss Global 2023.
