This is a list of Architecture Schools in India recognised by the Council of Architecture. [1] [2] The Council of Architecture is Indian regulatory body for both practice of architecture and education in architecture. The Council of Architecture maintains a registry of approved higher education institutions providing Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and Master of Architecture (M.Arch). [3] [4]

Jamia Millia Islamia is a public and research university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces during the British Empire in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by the University Grants Commission(UGC) in 1962. Jamia Millia Islamia became a central university by an act of the Indian Parliament which was passed on 26 December 1988.
B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology is a private deemed university located in Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 1984, Crescent was one of the first self-financing engineering institutions in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. After being affiliated to University of Madras and Anna University for 25 years, Crescent was Deemed to be University by Indian Government and was known as B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University. Since 2017, Crescent is known as B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology.

University Grants Commission is a statutory body under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. It was set up in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in India. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disbursements of funds to such recognized universities and colleges. The UGC headquarters are in New Delhi, and it has six regional centres in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore. A proposal to replace it with another new regulatory body called HECI is under consideration by the Government of India. The UGC provides doctoral scholarships to all those who clear JRF in the National Eligibility Test. On an average, each year ₹725 crore (US$87 million) is spent on doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships by the commission.
