The following is a list of Coccinellidae of Nepal , primarily based on Claudio Canepari and San Donato Milanese's "Coccinellidae (Coleoptera) from the Nepal Himalayas", [1] A.P. Kapur's "Coccinellidae of Nepal", [2] "The Coccinellidae of the Third Mount Everest Expedition, 1924 (coleoptera)" [3] and J. Poorani's 2004 "An Annotated Checklist of the Coccinellidae (Coleoptera) of the Indian Subregion" [4] with some recent additions and a modernized classification.
Coccinellidae is a widespread family of small beetles ranging in size from 0.8 to 18 mm. The family is commonly known as ladybugs in North America and ladybirds in Great Britain and other parts of the English-speaking world. Entomologists prefer the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles as these insects are not classified as true bugs.
In the 10th edition of Systema Naturae, Carl Linnaeus classified the arthropods, including insects, arachnids and crustaceans, among his class "Insecta". Insects with hardened wing covers were brought together under the name Coleoptera.
Coccinellinae is a subfamily of lady beetles in the family Coccinellidae. There are at least 20 genera and 90 described species in Coccinellinae.
Scymnus (Pullus) victoris, is a species of lady beetle found in India, Nicobare Islands, Himalayas, Sri Lanka, and Philippines.
Scymnus (Neopullus) fuscatus, is a species of lady beetle found in Japan, Formosa, China, Philippines, Sunda Islands, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Australia.
Brumoides lineatus, sometimes known as broad vein-longitudinal striped ladybug, is a species of lady beetle found in China, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan.
Ortalia horni is a species of lady beetle native to India and Sri Lanka.
