Public institutions

All public institutions in the state of Utah are managed by the Utah System of Higher Education, which consists of eight public colleges and universities and eight technical colleges. [1]

Weber State University is a public university in Ogden, Utah. It was founded in 1889 as Weber Stake Academy. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Salt Lake Community College</span> Public community college in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is a public community college in Salt Lake County, Utah. It is the state's largest two-year college with the most diverse student body. It serves more than 60,000 students on 10 campuses as well as through online classes. The college has a student to faculty ratio of 20:1. Since SLCC is a community college, it focuses on providing associate degrees that students can transfer to any other four-year university in the state to satisfy their first two years of requirements for a bachelor's degree. SLCC has open enrollment and serves the local community, with approximately 95% of the student body considered Utah residents.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Stevens–Henager College</span> Closed Private College in Ogden, Utah

Stevens–Henager College was a private college headquartered in Ogden, Utah which was founded in 1891 and closed abruptly in August 2021. It was one of four educational institutions affiliated with the Salt Lake City–based Center for Excellence in Higher Education (CEHE). Established in 1891, the college had campuses in Idaho and Utah. It offered online and on-campus programs for associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, and master's degrees.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Independence University</span>

Independence University was a private online career college headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was the online branch of Stevens–Henager College, and operated four schools: the School of Healthcare, the School of Business, the School of Technology, and the School of Graphic Arts. IU was founded by Carl Barney and owned and operated by the Center for Excellence in Higher Education (CEHE). Independence university was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges but the accreditor has begun withdrawing its accreditation because the university allegedly "failed to demonstrate successful student achievement by maintaining acceptable rates of student graduation and employment." In 2021, IU canceled classes scheduled to start May 10. On August 1, 2021, Independence University closed its doors permanently.

The Utah System of Technical Colleges was a system of public technical colleges in Utah. It was governed by a board of trustees appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Utah State Senate. In 2020, it was subsumed into the Utah System of Higher Education.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ogden–Weber Technical College</span> Technical college in Ogden, Utah, US

Ogden–Weber Technical College is a public technical college in Ogden, Utah. It is one of the largest of the eight technical colleges within the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE). The college offers open-entry, open-exit, competency-based education targeted at technical skills and job placement. The college provides technical training in 30 different programs. Primary career clusters include Business and IT, Construction, Health, Manufacturing and Service occupations.

Utah State University Eastern (USU Eastern) is a public regional college within the Utah State University system. The USU Eastern campus is located in Price, Utah, United States. Founded as Carbon College in 1937, the college joined the University of Utah system in 1959 for 10 years and was renamed College of Eastern Utah (CEU). In 1969, the Utah System of Higher Education was created ending the relationship between the University of Utah and CEU. CEU entered the USU system on July 1, 2010 as Utah State University Eastern. With more than 60 degree programs, the college focuses on technical, vocational, and associate degree programs. USU Eastern competes as the Eagles and is the only statewide USU campus, apart from the Logan campus, that has an athletics program.
