Peterboro Street Elementary School is a historic elementary school building located at Canastota in Madison County, New York. It was built in 1927 in the Gothic Revival style. It is a large brick and concrete building whose front facade features a broad, projecting central pavilion flanked by broad, two bay wings. [2]

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. [1]

Gerrit Smith Estate United States historic place

The Gerrit Smith Estate is a historic residential estate at Oxbow Road and Peterboro Road in Peterboro, New York. It was home to Gerrit Smith (1797-1874), a 19th-century social reformer, abolitionist, and presidential candidate, and his wife, Ann Carroll Fitzhugh. Smith established an early temperance hotel on his estate, and it was a widely known stop for escaped slaves on the Underground Railroad. The surviving elements of the estate were declared a National Historic Landmark in 2001. The estate is now managed by a nonprofit organization, and is open for tours from June to August.

Peterboro Land Office United States historic place

The Peterboro Land Office is located in the hamlet of Peterboro, in the Town of Smithfield in Madison County, New York. The small, Federal style building was built in 1804. It was constructed of locally produced brick laid in Flemish bond on the facade and common bond elsewhere. The main room is 24 by 28 feet. The interior has plaster walls and ceiling and a brick over plank floor. The entrance vestibule is in the center of the south wall between two windows. There is a window each on the east and west walls. The north walls has built in shelves and drawers on the east side and a 4-foot-high (1.2 m) iron vault door on the west side.

US Post Office-Canastota is a historic post office building located at Canastota in Madison County, New York, United States. It is within the boundaries of the South Peterboro Street Commercial Historic District. It was designed and built in 1940, and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, Louis A. Simon. It is a one-story, three bay steel frame building with facades of red brick laid in common bond in the Colonial Revival style. It features a gable roof crowned by a square, wooden cupola. The interior features a 1942 mural by Alison Mason Kingsbury titled The Onion Fields.

Broad Street School United States historic place

The Broad Street School is a historic former school building at 100 Broad Street in Norwich, Connecticut. The school was designed by New York City architect Wilson Potter and built in 1897. It is a well-executed and well-preserved example of Romanesque styling, and was the largest school built as part of a major construction program by the city. The schoolhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. It has been converted to residential use.

The National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum is located on the second floor of a historic Presbyterian church, located at 5255 Pleasant Valley Road, between Elizabeth and Park Streets, in the hamlet of Peterboro, New York. The church, built in 1820, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. No longer used as a church, it has been the Evans Academy; Town Hall; Peterboro Union School; and Peterboro Elementary School. The first floor now (2018) serves as the Town of Smithfield Community Center.

Built in 1886, and enlarged several times, its growth mirrored the city's rapid growth in the late 19th century due to the arrival of many immigrant laborers. It served as a school until 1976, and has since been converted to residential use. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
