Town Branch is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey brand produced by the Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company of Lexington, Kentucky which is owned by Alltech. Town Branch Distillery is the first distillery to be built in Lexington in more than 100 years. [1]
The name "Town Branch" commemorates the body of water that presently runs under Lexington, on which Lexington was founded. The water is important for the distillery because Lexington is a part of the Bluegrass region with limestone-rich land that filters out iron and adds calcium. [2]
The distillery houses production for Alltech's four spirits: Town Branch Bourbon, Pearse Lyons Reserve (a single malt whiskey), Town Branch Rye Whiskey, and Bluegrass Sundown (a bourbon-infused coffee drink). Town Branch Distillery was accepted as part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 2012. [3]
The Lexington Brewing Company was acquired by Pearse Lyons and Alltech in 1999. The first brand was Limestone Brewing, which was shortly changed to Kentucky Ale. The Lexington Brewing Company brewed Kentucky Ale (and after 2005) Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale for 7 years before beginning to distill spirits. In 2008, two copper pot stills from Scotland were used to distill the first batches of whiskeys in their original brewery. The company name was changed to include "distilling" and Town Branch was branded. After four years of aging, the company began bottling and selling by October 2012. In February 2015, the Town Branch Single Barrel was released. The inaugural Town Branch Single Barrel collection will be bottled as non-chill filtered and at cask strength. Six, six-year-old barrels were selected for bottling and are only for retail at the Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.
Town Branch Bourbon uses a mashbill of 72 percent corn, 15 percent malted rye, and 13 percent malted barley. [4] [ not specific enough to verify ] The mash is fermented in large cypress wood fermenting containers in Town Branch Distillery's glass, front room. Town Branch distills in two large, copper pot stills imported from Scotland. The raw whiskey is aged in oak barrels, charred on the inside to char level 5.

Beam, who rebuilt the business after Prohibition ended. Previously produced by the Beam family and later owned by the Fortune Brands holding company, the brand was purchased by Suntory Holdings in 2014.
Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. is a private, American family-owned and operated distillery founded in 1935 and headquartered in Bardstown, Kentucky, that produces and markets the Heaven Hill brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and a variety of other distilled spirits.

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, United States, owned by the Sazerac Company. It has historically been known by several names, including the George T. Stagg Distillery and the Old Fire Copper (O.F.C.) Distillery. Its namesake bourbon brand, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, was introduced in August 1999. The name "Buffalo Trace" refers to the ancient buffalo trackway that crosses the Kentucky River in Franklin County, Kentucky. The Sazerac Company purchased the distillery in 1992.

Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company is a brewery and distillery based in Lexington, Kentucky founded in 1999 by Pearse Lyons, the president and founder of animal nutrition company Alltech.
The Chattanooga Whiskey Company is a producer of bourbon whiskey and "Tennessee High Malt" bourbon whiskey, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was founded by Tim Piersant and Joe Ledbetter. The brand was launched in April 2012, and the company simultaneously announced its intention to help change local distilling laws. The launch met with some initial criticism, primarily due to where the product was made, but Hamilton County laws prohibited the manufacture of "intoxicating liquors" at the time. Local public awareness eventually became a catalyst in galvanizing support to change Prohibition-era distilling laws. In March 2015, the company opened the first legal distillery in Chattanooga since Prohibition. The first experimental whiskey, "Batch 001: Tennessee High Malt", was released in August 2017.
