Type 917 torpedo retriever is a type of Chinese torpedo retriever in service with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). The program is one of the longest in PLAN, lasting from 1982 to 2007.
Design work of Type 917 begun in 1982 and was completed in the following year by the 708th Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, which is also more commonly known as China Shipbuilding and Oceanic Engineering Design Academy (中国船舶及海洋工程设计研究) nowadays. Work on two ships begun simultaneously in September 1983 and both were completed in 1990. The reason for such protracted construction was because the design included many high tech features that was brand new to China in the early 1980s, such as HD5L/D automatic control, hydraulic crane, centralized control of propulsion and centralized air conditioning. Once design proved to be successful, more units followed and nearly a dozen ships were eventually built in three different batches.
The production span of Type 917 torpedo retriever is over fifteen years long and numerous shipyards were involved in the construction, including Guangxi Guijiang Shipyard (广西桂江造船厂), Fujian Mawei Navy Yard (福建马尾船厂), Shanghai Shenjia (申佳) Shipyard, and Xiamen Shipyard (厦门造船厂). The third batch has propulsion upgrade to MTU 9L2027 diesel engine and increased speed to 15 kt. Type 917 series in PLAN service are designated by a combination of two Chinese characters followed by three-digit number. The second Chinese character is Yun (运), meaning transport in Chinese, because these ships are classified as transport. The first Chinese character denotes which fleet the ship is service with, with East (Dong, 东) for East Sea Fleet, North (Bei, 北) for North Sea Fleet, and South (Nan, 南) for South Sea Fleet. However, the pennant numbers may have changed due to the change of Chinese naval ships naming convention.

The Type 072II landing ship are large landing ships built by Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard as a successor to the Type 072 landing ship. A total of four hulls have been delivered to the PLA Navy since the early 1990s. The Type 072-II is the PLA Navy’s first amphibious warfare ship to have a flight deck for helicopter take-off/landing. There are four ships currently in People's Liberation Army service, three of which are deployed in South Sea Fleet of the People's Liberation Army Navy at Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, while the remaining one is deployed in East Sea Fleet of PLAN. All active ships are built by China Shipbuilding Shipyard (中华造船厂) in Shanghai.
The Type 072III landing ship is the follow-on of the Type 072II landing ships initially introduced in the 1990s by the People's Republic of China. Type 072-III features a redesigned concealed bridge, and possibly enhanced sealift capability. The main difference between Type 072III and its predecessor Type 072II is that Type 072III incorporates a helicopter platform at stern. A total of ten ships have entered service with People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), and all of them were built by China Shipbuilding Shipyard (中华造船厂) in Shanghai, Most of Type 072III deployed in PLAN East Sea Fleet (ESF), and the remaining in PLAN North Sea Fleet (NSF) and South Sea Fleet (SSF).
The Yuch'in class landing craft, mechanized entered the People's Liberation Army Navy service from 1962–1972 and consists of two types, the Type 068 and Type 069, one of steel construction, the other of aluminum. Type 904 dive tender is a class of Chinese dive tender in service with the People's Liberation Army Navy. Type 904 shares the same hull of Type 991II Youdian class cable layer, but the original design encountered difficulty when the development of domestic Chinese saturation diving support system stalled. Decision was made to import such system from abroad, with French system eventually selected. Consequently, the original Type 904 never went into production because the design had to be modified to accommodate the foreign saturation diving support system, and the modified design is designated as Type 904I.
