The Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) is the first-tier professional women's basketball league in China. It was established in 2002 as the women's counterpart to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
There are currently 17 teams in the league. Team names often incorporate the names of their corporate sponsors.

The 2014–15 CBA season was the 20th Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season. The Jiangsu Tongxi Monkey Kings and Chongqing Fly Dragons were "promoted" to the CBA, becoming the league's 19th and 20th teams. Two clubs also altered or changed their mascots, with the Foshan Dralions opting to be called the Foshan Long-Lions in English, while the Shandong Gold Lions became the Shandong Golden Stars.
The 2015–16 CBA season was the 21st season of the Chinese Basketball Association. The regular season began on Saturday, October 31, 2015, with the Beijing Ducks hosting the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. The regular season ended on Friday, February 5, 2016, and the playoffs began on Monday, February 15, 2016.
Li Chunjiang is a Chinese basketball coach and former player. He was the member of national team and won titles at 1990 Asian Games and the 1991 ABC Championship. In the following year, Li along with the national team competed in the men's tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Three years after announcing his retirement from professional basketball in 1998, he has since launched a distinguished coaching career. He received a five-year coaching ban in 2023 as a result of his involvement in alleged match-fixing during the 2023 CBA playoffs.
