The Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system is a national continuing education and training system designed for adult workers in Singapore, complementing the formal education system for students. WSQ training is accessible to all workers and does not require academic pre-requisites. The WSQ provides training for skills upgrading and also recognition and certification of workers' existing skills. There are seven qualification levels from basic Certificate to graduate Diploma and these spell out the upgrading and career advancement pathways for workers. Workers can also be certified with Statements of Attainment for individual modules to fill gaps in their skills.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a national non-profit organization created by the Canadian government in 2007 in response to a senate committee tasked to study mental health, mental illness, and addiction. The committee appointed Michael J. L. Kirby as the first chairperson. The MHCC was endorsed by all the provinces and territories with exception to Quebec. The Commission is funded by Health Canada and has a ten-year mandate enforced through a sunset clause. On 21 April 2015, Minister of Finance Joe Oliver announced that the 2015 federal budget calls for the renewal of the MHCC for another ten-year mandate starting in 2017–2018.

Prevention through design (PtD), also called safety by design usually in Europe, is the concept of applying methods to minimize occupational hazards early in the design process, with an emphasis on optimizing employee health and safety throughout the life cycle of materials and processes. It is a concept and movement that encourages construction or product designers to "design out" health and safety risks during design development. The process also encourages the various stakeholders within a construction project to be collaborative and share the responsibilities of workers' safety evenly. The concept supports the view that along with quality, programme and cost; safety is determined during the design stage. It increases the cost-effectiveness of enhancements to occupational safety and health.

IAL offers a range of education programmes such as Master's degree, WSQ Diploma, WSQ Advanced Certificate, and short courses in the field of training and adult education. IAL functions as the National Centre of Excellence for Adult Learning that aims to enhance the standards of Training and Adult Education (TAE) in Singapore by promoting ongoing education and partnering with higher education institutions and training providers. IAL engages in research to guide continuous education policies and practices, and aids in applying this research to develop practical tools and resources for the TAE community. Additionally, IAL contributes to the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) network, particularly through NACE@IAL, focusing on improving workplace learning theories and practices, as well as fostering innovation and technology within the TAE sector.
