The 1968 United States presidential election in Idaho took place on November 5, 1968, as part of the 1968 United States presidential election. State voters chose four [2] representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.
Idaho was won by former Vice President Richard Nixon (R–New York), with 56.79% of the popular vote, against former Senator and incumbent Vice President Hubert Humphrey (D–Minnesota), with 30.66% of the popular vote. Alabama Governor George Wallace, who ran as a member of the American Independent Party, performed quite well, finishing with 12.55% of the popular vote. [3] [4]
With 56.79% of the popular vote, Idaho would prove to be Nixon's second strongest state in the 1968 election after Nebraska. [5]

The 1972 United States presidential election was the 47th quadrennial presidential election held on Tuesday, November 7, 1972. Incumbent Republican president Richard Nixon defeated Democratic U.S. senator George McGovern in a landslide victory. With 60.7% of the popular vote, Richard Nixon won the largest share of the popular vote for the Republican Party in any presidential election.
Richard Nixon served as the 37th president of the United States from 1969 to 1974. He previously served as the 36th vice president of the United States from 1953 to 1961, and as a United States senator from 1950 to 1953 and United States representative from 1947 to 1950.
