The AFC Futsal Championship is the premier international futsal competition for the Asian Football Confederation national teams. It was first held in 1999 and was played annually until 2008; since then it has been played biennially.

Contents

Iran and Japan are the dominant nations being the only two nations to have won the tournament and Iran is the only nation to have never finished outside the top four. Iran, champions of 12 of the 15 editions of the competition, won 7 straight editions before their streak was broken by Japan. Japan have won the other 3 editions of the competition. It is a qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup. Kazakhstan switched to UEFA since 2002.

West Asian Football Federation governing body of association football in Western Asia

The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), founded in 2001, is an association of the football playing nations in Western Asia. Its founding members are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. In 2009, three more associations joined the federation: Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Four other nations of Western Asia: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia joined in 2010. Iran left the federation on 10 June 2014 with the creation of Central Asian Football Federation.

The AFC U-19 Championship, formerly known as the AFC Youth Championship, is a biennial international association football competition organised by the sport's Asian governing body, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The competition has been held since 1959. Between 1959 and 1978 the tournament was held annually, since 1980 it has been held every two years.

AFC U-20 Womens Championship

The AFC U-20 Women's Championship is an association football tournament for women's national teams under the age of 20, organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It is organised by the Asian Football Confederation every two years, and serves as a qualifying competition for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. It was first played in 2002 as the AFC U-19 Women's Championship with an upper age limit of 19. Starting from the 2022 edition, the age limit was raised to 20.

AFC U-16 Championship

The AFC U-16 Championship is a football competition, organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held once every two years for Asian under-16 teams that also serves as a qualification tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The top 4 countries qualify to participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Until 2006 it was held as an under-17 tournament. The AFC have proposed switching back to an under-17 tournament starting from 2023.

Africa U-17 Cup of Nations

The TotalU-17 Africa Cup of Nations is a bi-annual football competition organised by the sport's African governing body, CAF. The competition has been held since 1995. Between 1985 and 1993 only qualifying competitions for the FIFA U-17 World Cup were played.

The Total Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, is the main national futsal competition of the Confederation of African Football nations. It was first held in 1996 and has been played every four years. It is a qualification to FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The OFC Futsal Championship is the main national futsal competition of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) nations. It was first held in 1992.

Copa América de Futsal South American futsal tournament for national teams

The Copa América de Futsal is the main national futsal competition of the CONMEBOL nations organized by the FIFA. It was first held in 1995, although it was preceded in 1992 by an edition of the CONMEBOL Futsal Championship. In 1996, the second edition of both tournaments were held as a single event. The Copa América was held every year until 1999. In 2000, it was organized as the third and last edition of the CONMEBOL Futsal Championship. In 2003, the tournament was refounded in its current format. Since then, the tournament has had five editions held.

The CONCACAF Futsal Championship is the main national futsal competition of the CONCACAF nations. It was first held in 1996, and it is held every four years.

The OFC U-19 Championship is a tournament held once every two years to decide the under-19 champions of Oceania and also decides who will represent Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) at the biennial FIFA U-20 World Cup.
