The song introduces Blige's rap alter ego, Brook Lynn, who delivers the song's rap verse. Blige's rap verse was originally written by Jay-Z for Foxy Brown, but Jerkins rejected Brown's vocals and it was instead suggested that Blige record the verse herself.
"Love U Better" is a song written, and performed by American singer Ty Dolla $ign, featuring American rapper Lil Wayne and fellow American singer The-Dream. It was released on July 10, 2017, as the lead single from the former's second studio album, Beach House 3 (2017).
"Luv" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Janet Jackson for her tenth studio album Discipline (2008). Written by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Dernst "D'Mile" Emile, Tasleema Yasin, and LaShawn Daniels, the song's production was handled by Darkchild and D'Mile. Described as a "feel-good" clap-and-bounce track, "Luv" is an electro-R&B song, with Jackson relating a car crash to falling in love.
Tyrone William Griffin Jr., known professionally as Ty Dolla Sign, is an American singer, songwriter and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He gained initial recognition for his guest appearance on fellow Los Angeles rapper YG's 2010 single "Toot It and Boot It", which entered the Billboard Hot 100. He signed with Atlantic Records in 2012, and Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang Entertainment the following year.
"One Love" is a song recorded by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez for her seventh studio album, Love? (2011). The R&B song was written by Lopez, Anesha Birchett, Antea Shelton and Emile "D'Mile" Dernst II, the song's producer. "One Love" was initially written and presented to Lopez by A-Plus and D'Mile to record, however, upon hearing the demo of the song, she was not pleased with its verses. Liking the chorus and idea of the song, Lopez wrote new verses to the song with the song's original writers.
Beach House EP is the debut extended play (EP) by American singer Ty Dolla Sign. It was released on January 21, 2014, by Atlantic Records. Ty mostly produced through the entirety of this EP, alongside the variety of the other record producers such as DJ Mustard, D'Mile and Young Chop, among others. The EP features guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, B.o.B, French Montana, Trey Songz, Twista, Jay Rock, Travis Scott and Fredo Santana, among others. The EP was supported by three singles: "Paranoid" featuring B.o.B, "Or Nah" featuring Wiz Khalifa and DJ Mustard, and the remix to the first single entitled "Paranoid (Remix)".

Joshua Isaih "'OG" Parker, is an American hip hop record producer from Atlanta, Georgia. In 2015, he worked as an in-house producer for the record label Quality Control Music. His stage moniker is adapted from his early affiliation with OG Maco's collective OGG, where he became acquainted with frequent collaborator Deko. Parker has since produced for prominent artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Chris Brown, Jazmine Sullivan, Gucci Mane, Fetty Wap, K Camp, YFN Lucci and Kollision.
Beach House 3 is the second studio album by American singer Ty Dolla Sign. It was released on October 27, 2017, by Atlantic Records. The album serves as the third installment in his Beach House series. It features guest appearances from Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez, The-Dream, YG, Future, Swae Lee, Wiz Khalifa, Damian Marley, and Lauren Jauregui, among others. The album's production was handled by Mike Will Made It, DJ Mustard, Skrillex, Mike Dean, Apex Martin, MariiBeatz, Dun Deal and James Royo, among others.
"Freeee " is a song by American hip hop duo Kids See Ghosts, composed of the rappers Kanye West and Kid Cudi, from their eponymous debut album (2018). The song features a guest appearance from American musician Ty Dolla Sign. It is the sequel to West's song "Ghost Town" from his eighth studio album, Ye (2018). The former was produced by West and Kid Cudi, with co-production from Mike Dean, Jeff Bhasker, and BoogzDaBeast, while additional production was handled by Andrew Dawson, Andy C, and Russell "Love" Crews. Apart from BoogzDaBeast, the lead and co-producers wrote the song alongside Ty Dolla Sign and Corin Littler, who has the stage name of Mr. Chop and received songwriting credit due to his work being sampled.
David Debrandon Brown, professionally known as Lucky Daye, is an American singer-songwriter from New Orleans. He is signed to Keep Cool Records and RCA Records. He released his first EP, I on November 9, 2018, and his second EP, II on February 6, 2019. The EPs were part of a series leading up to his debut studio album Painted which was released on May 24, 2019. His third EP, Table for Two, won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album. His second album, Candydrip, was released on March 10, 2022, preceded by the commercially successful single "Over". His third and latest album, Algorithm, was released on June 28, 2024. The album is currently nominated for Best R&B Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Painted is the debut studio album by American singer Lucky Daye. It was released on May 24, 2019, by Keep Cool Records and RCA Records. The album was broken up into two EP's, a part of a series to lead up to his debut album.
Anthony Clemons Jr. is an American singer, rapper and songwriter from Willingboro Township, New Jersey. He rose to prominence as a guest performer on Kanye West's 2018 single "All Mine", after which he contributed to West's Wyoming Sessions, as well as his subsequent album, Jesus Is King (2019). Clemons' debut studio album, Happy 2 Be Here (2020) was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards; with a total of four, his three other nominations yielded from his songwriting work on albums for Mary J. Blige and H.E.R. Clemons is also known for his contributions to the original version of West's 2021 single, "Hurricane", and other songs intended for his tenth album Donda (2021), most of which remain unreleased.
I Used to Know Her is the second compilation album by American R&B singer H.E.R., released on August 30, 2019, by RCA Records. The album comprises songs from the singer's EPs I Used to Know Her: The Prelude (2018) and I Used to Know Her: Part 2 (2018), and includes five additional songs, as well as extended editions of the songs "Going", "Be on My Way", and "Lord Is Coming".
"Good Morning Gorgeous" is a song by American singer Mary J. Blige. It was written by Blige along with Lucky Daye, Tiara Thomas, Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II, and Gabriella "H.E.R." Wilson for her same-titled fourteenth studio album (2022), while production was helmed by Emile and Wilson. A downtempo R&B song, "Good Morning Gorgeous" has Blige singing an ode to loving one's self. A remix featuring additional vocals from H.E.R. was issued in March 2022.
"Over" is a song by American singer Lucky Daye. It was released as the lead single from his second studio album Candydrip (2022) on September 22, 2021 via Keep Cool Records and RCA Records. Utilizing a sample of "Halfcrazy", a 2002 song by Musiq Soulchild, the R&B and trap-soul song's lyrics chronicle Daye's anxieties over a toxic and on-again, off-again relationship. Its music video, released concurrently with the single, stars Jordyn Woods.
Catch Me If You Can is the fourth studio album by Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold. It was released on 4 February 2022 by Afro Urban Records and distributed by Splatoon. The album features guest appearances from Stefflon Don, Davido, Ty Dolla Sign, Fatoumata Diawara, Lucky Daye and Fousheé. Adekunle Gold enlisted production from Pheelz, Blaisebeatz, Seyifunmi, Tay Iwar, Synematik, Bigfish, Kali, Rymez, Lekaa Beats, Quebeat and TMXO.
