Dowden Tannery is a historic tannery building located at Cold Spring Harbor in Suffolk County, New York. It was built about 1840 and is a three bay, two story brick structure coated in stucco. Two, one story gable roofed side additions were built in the early 20th century. [2] The tannery is located in a residential area southeast of Woodbury Road, and east of Cold Spring Harbor Railroad Station. Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch runs behind the building, which is accessible only from a diagonal driveway leading from above the embankment of West Rogues Path.

The original structure was built in 1817–1818. The interior features distinctive Federal woodwork. It functioned as a hotel into the 1860s, then was used as a Masonic Lodge. In 1972 New York State acquired the building and rehabilitated it for use as the Visitor Center for the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site. In July 2000, an addition was built and it was converted to serve as the Seaway Trail Discovery Center.

It was moved to the rear of the lot on which it is located in 1930.

By-the-Harbor

By-the-Harbor, also known as the Prescott Hall Butler and Cornelia Smith Butler Estate, is a historic home located at Nissequogue in Suffolk County, New York. It was built about 1878 as the first of a group of country homes built on Stony Brook Harbor and one of Charles F. McKim's earliest projects. It is a long and narrow, two story, Shingle Style structure with a low attic level at each end. The south facade features a massive asymmetrical gable that rises from the first floor to the ridge of the roof. Also on the property are the original flanking stone entrance piers and rusted iron gates and casino building. The casino is a sprawling two story Colonial Revival style building with shingled facades and a hipped roof. The original section, holding a squash court and plunge baths, was designed in the 1890s by McKim, Mead, and White. In 1905, a wing containing a ballroom and designed by Stanford White, was added.

John and Henry Crouse Farm Complex

John and Henry Crouse Farm Complex is a historic home and farm complex located at Guilderland in Albany County, New York. The original house was built about 1790 and became the rear wing when the large, two story front addition was constructed about 1860. It features a shed roofed portico with lattice supports. Also on the property are a barn and a shed that was used as a tannery.

Rogues Harbor Inn

Rogues' Harbor Inn, also known as the Elm Grove Inn and Central Exchange Hotel, is a historic inn and tavern located at Lansing in Tompkins County, New York. It was built between 1830 and 1842 by Major General Daniel D. Minier, and is a three-story brick building in the Greek Revival style. It is a 40-foot-deep by 80-foot-wide rectangular building on a stucco-coated fieldstone foundation with a gable roof. It features a full-width porch with a roof supported by turned posts. The author Grace Miller White (1868–1957) used it as the inspiration for the setting for her novel Judy of Rogues Harbor. It has continued to operate as a bed and breakfast country inn and restaurant. As of January 2019, their website reports "Restaurant reopening Spring 2019."
